Going to Germany: Driving tips? Nurburgring? Ingolstadt Tour?
Hey, I am going to Oktoberfest and want to do a little driving while I am there (not at the same time). Has anyone here gone and done the Nurburgring? Where did you rent a car and how much did it cost? What did you get? Some of the numbers have seen are pretty exepensive online and I am wondering if it is better to just show up and book somethign in person.
Separately, has anyone done the audi tour? Do they have any test drive programs where yougte to drive some of the nice cars?
Thanks,
Sean

Sorry to bring this older thread back to life, but I am heading to Germany in April and will DEFINITELY be going to Nurburgring. I also so some crazy high prices for car rentals and lap sessions. It will be me and a friend splitting a car and track time.
What are the in's and out's of the experience? Of course riding someone is fun, but i HAVE to drive the track, can't let a oppurtunity like that pass up.
Thanks

Horribly late reply... "In's and Out's" of driving the ring are getting the chance to drive on the ring... World famous track built for A.H. as a private road. You can rent vehicles for a decent price. Just keep in mind that the American dollar is pretty much worthless compared to the Euro at this moment. Today $1 is only worth 71 Euro cents. That's always subject to change, though. If you rent at the ring, yes the cars will be a little more expensive but you can also get a nice car. They usually don't let you rent anything with high HP until you have rented a few times.

Anyone looking to rent a car check out Rent4Ring.. These guys are just down the road from the entrance in the main part of Nurburg. Awesome group of guys, very helpful, affordable, and the cars were a blast. I will be posting some GoPro footage on youtube when i get sometime and will post some links. If anyone can get to drive the ring, then DO NOT HESITATE. It was the most fun I've had driving a car, and the most fun I had in Germany!!
Cheers!

I thought filming was against the rules, and could get you thrown off???

I'm making plans for next month. Curious what car you rented from Rent4Ring, when you were there (weekday/weekend) and how long you were out there (how many laps)? I can't WAIT!
