Ill kick it off, I tinted my sidemarkers and changed the oil today.
I managed to get some really good shine out of it, using only 1 coat of nite-shades and 1 coat of clear. No wet sanding or anything. I was planning on doing lots of thin coats and wetsand, but it covered the sidemarker much darker than I excpected in my first coat, and it was glossy, so I decided to leave it alone and just clear it.
And the oil change was a bitch. The shop over-tightened the oil-filter and the drain-plug last time, so I had to buy a oil-filter wrench for filter, and then use a cheater-bar on a ratchet to get the drain-plug.
So, what did YOU do to YOUR A6 today?
spent 120 getting a vacuum leak diagnosed and fixed. ended up being the throttle body gasket but the one the shop ordered didnt fit so waiting for them to find the right one and until then am without my car :(

Well, yesterday I washed it, vacuumed it, and was going to put on replacement door blades. However, they had the screws sheared off inside them, so I couldn't use them. Durn it.

so with a ground to my engine to frame and then another from my batt to frame it has given my car a smoother idle and no more misfire when the bass hits
Is this only for A6'ers? What about us lowly S6 guys...
Or maybe it's for the best, cuz I was just going to brag about my video shoot.
Nice Avant . as far as what I did today? Nothing except Went and removed the funky spare tire to check the codes and plugged them in to see their meanings. Yeah, pretty much nothing special.

Other than take a few of those annoying ads off my drivers window and windshield that get put there when I street park , I guess I let her take a few good inhales and exhales as the turbo's spooled up passing cars on the highway this morning quickly getting to work
I also got her new shades (18% tint) last week which made us both happy

drove 100 miles this morning. I-15 north - I-10 east - exti national blvd to a side st. - let on pico blvd. - to the parking garage where it sits and rest for the day so it'll be ready to stalk L.A. freeway later to go home.. lol
oh and yeah, shut down a caddilac cts, because mf cut me like a maniac.
then followed this nissan 370z then passed him cause his driving too slow(he got like a 10 car gap in front of him.)
Tried to remove some of the spider webs that were growing on my old auto a6. Hadn't driven it in a long time since having the new 6MT. Took it to PureMS to get the codes cleared. I replaced a faulty SAI pump but the CEL was still on. Im hoping the Combi valves dont need to be replaced.

I had my blinkers go out today. So i took out the hazard switch and opened it up. There are two open relays. The one on the right is for the hazard and the one on the left is the culprit. I noticed that the "flapper" that moves when the magnet is on was slightly bent and causing a bad connection. I just bent the flap straight and voila, blinkers back in service. Sorry for the totally useless picture.

2 WEEKENDS AGO:
- participated in Cars & Coffee event
- fielded some really good questions from real enthusiasts
- fielded some really dumb ones from the automotive community at large
- replaced cabin air filter w/ carbon filter (bring on the clean drinking water jokes)
- rewired reverse light switch
- deleted LOTS of A/T wiring
- wired up starter interlock and clutch vacuum interrupt switches
- re-sealed headlight back doors with silicone
LAST WEEKEND:
- located front seat water ingress source
- re-sealed clutch hose grommet and ECU box gasket with rubber butyl caulk
- reattached headlight leveler motor to reflector
- reinstalled high beam bulb, which had fallen out
- attempted to adjust headlights, fault code remains
- added another quart of oil
- attempted to locate other water ingress source (sunroof drains suspected)
- removed seats and carpet, extracted ~2 gallons of rainwater
THIS WEEKEND:
- ordered proper clutch hose grommet and ECU box gasket from the dealer
- fixed a flat tire
- ran through a car wash
- cleaned the windows
- started shopping for some 255 30 zr19 tires
- listed my 255 40 r19 tires up for sale
- observed power windows, gauge cluster, and sunshade misbehave, probably due to water
- made the decision that this car, however potent in the rain, is probably a fair weather car
- took advantage of the beautiful weather and gave it a couple hundred miles of some serious highway time
- managed to avert observation of my spirited driving by any law enforcement bodies and return home unscathed.
