    :(

just talked to the machinist. he said it looked like somebody had previously tried to do a valve job, and failed pretty miserably. i can use em as is, but it's obviously not ideal. and i'm not gonna have him do a valve job on stock valves. i guess i'm buying 2mm oversized valves from 034 this fall...

fack. Or you could just get another set of heads for a few $100? If you plan on doing turbos eventually are you putting in some stainless or inconel exhaust valves?

these heads will work for now. i really dont want to buy another set of used heads that could potentially need the same amount of work. if i put any work into them, i'm going to go all the way with them.

i'll probably go with the 2mm oversized stainless intake valves and .5mm oversized inconel exhaust valves that 034 sells

FWIW, intake valves are usually fine and don't need to be replaced

i understand from that aspect that they are probably fine. machinist said he could fix it without new valves as it is, but if i'm going to spend $500+ on labor, i'm going to have him do something worthwhile lol

Nice! I just picked up an abz 4.2 from a 99 A8 to throw into my 2.8, but I'm far from starting it. I got my first child on the way so I'm gonna slowly accumulate the parts I know I will need from asking guys like you who are doing and have done the swap and then sometime this winter or next start it. I also have a used rear mount turbo kit for it. It was fitted on my b6 s4 that I bought off a unamed tuning company. They had it running pretty good, boosting around 10lbs from stock motor and I beleive they were around the 420+ hp mark. The only thing was they kept getting oil pressurizing in the intake and ruining maf's. So they scrapped the project, took the parts off and sold them to me with the car. btw...subscribed and good luck.
