been out of the Audi scene for a bit, but starting to get back on track and finish my gt3071 project. When i walked away from the forums a few months back, EuroDyne had just released its tuning suite for the B6 chassis but it wasn't available for b5. I see we are now supported and this looks very enticing. My questions start off with, how easy is this to learn? How safe is it to learn on? I have never been involved in tuning a car, but would do the necessary research and have resources available to ensure nothing becomes unsafe for the car.
Also, am I correct by assuming the stock ECU, sensors, and harness are kept intact, and all changes are made through a vag-com like USB dongle that interfaces the stock ECU to a computer running the correct software?
Thanks guys, and I hope to revive my long lost thread or just start a new one in the near future.
Thanks
Josh

The way i look at this is that Maestro when used on the base map is safe (is basicaly a of the shell software), but once its being played with, its like a Programable ECU (can be dangerous when not knowing what you are doing). Also, its important to know what ECU you have. As I understand 3.8 version of the ecu, have limited access on the features of maestro (like live dataloging and other features), if you are 5.9 or higher you'll have more control of you ecu..

I have it, its great, and nothing to be scared of.. IMO its worth it just so that you never have to buy another flash. Chris will mail you whatever flash you want for free as long as you own Maestro.. As many times as you want.. You can also datalog with it, and e-mail the logs to him, and he will adjust the map, and e-mail it back.. No worries.. You can disable airbags, emissions schit, etc as well. Its really the only way to fly.... check out this thread..
I was also looking at Maestro. It looks pretty powerful from the website. This is in comparison to HPtuners for GM LS motors. Tuning isn't too bad so long as you read a lot, and make small changes at a time. Everyone said I couldn't learn how to tune ecus by myself then I bought HPtuners for my truck and taught myself. It took a while but I got good enough that I remapped my ecu for my truck when I swapped out my 5.3L for my 6.0L v8 and it works pretty good, and I run sometimes 50 degrees tdc on my timing at some points on 87 octane with no knocking.
Tuning is only scary when you do stupid things like change your timing by +20 degrees without any thought out reason. Buy it, go slow and have some fun.

you're missing also that me7 has injector wizard and full control over the emissions.. secondary 02, evap, etc. stuff that ME5 does not have (02's dont have the control either if you wanna get technical but you get my drift).
there are also further differences but the 2 above, are big things to most.
No I didn't but.. you don't have to be a prick and point it out..
All I did was and observation about this because I actually have used both systems (being a Eurodyne dealer).. and you had to answer with a prick comment.. This is the second time you come and said shit (the first was the ECU comment that I was wrong and I apoligized), I am really getting tired of your attitude. Can it dude and just let other people give comments and enjoy the forum.
You don't know it all.
i'm far from being a prick. maybe you should dig the sand out of your vagina and be the one to relax.. i am simply pointing out that going me7 is far more difficult then an afternoon swap of a couple of things. i also dont think i know it all, but you're are a DEALER of products and you dont know half about what you sell. (ecu comment implied there.. dont tell someone, after being told you're wrong, that you arent wrong.. i wouldnt of posted on that thread had i not of know FROM EXPERIENCE that i was right... i'm not like 85% of the people here who post about shit they dont know)..
Unlike most, i've researched for months the me7 swap, bought harnesses and sat in my shop and gone over both to see where they differ.. i repinned 96 pins to make a ME7 cluster work in my ME5 analog clustered car.. full lcd works. I was going this route so my tuning software would actually be worth the money i'd spend on it, but canned it to get the car running again.
Remember, there are people on this forum that actually post when they know what they are talking about.. or who have actually tried and completed, or tried and know how to most of the shit. If you'd stop, sit back and LISTEN to what people are telling you.. you'd probably know a whole more about shit.. even the shit you "sell"
Blah blah blah.. You r still a know it all prick ..
Deal with it.. I know what it takes to swap a ME7 and I know is no sunday picnic. But it might be worth it is you want more control and more options is you have a ME5 if you have the skill and the time.
All I did was give my experience on this forum, and you jump on it.. like you just did
If you want to continue this, PM me .. Or maybe I'll get in a plane, go to PA and visit you personally
Is anybody here still running this software?? Any details any luck with it, I'm looking to getting this software and just run the base tune but would like to see more user details and opinons
