Question to those who has rear door interior lock-switch
My B8 1.8TFSI did not come with rear door interior lock switch. The doors can be opened from the inside with a single pull on the door handle, even if the central lock is armed. I have learned central lock essentially is locking the car from the outside. While the car is moving, doors can still be opened from the inside.
I like to know if this is the case for US models that has rear interior lock switches. Do your rear doors also open with a single handle pull even when the switched is 'locked'?
I recall there was a similar discussion on this topic, but could not find it from the search. Also read previous A4 platforms have doors that requires two pulls on the interior handle to open from the inside. Wondering if this is the case for the B8 and if this can be set by VAGCOM.
Thanks in advance

If I am remembering correctly, when the doors are locked, it takes two pulls of the rear handle to open the door...
One to unlock the door, and another to actually open the door...

Thanks, NPuter. That is all I need to know. I want to pull-handle-twice action to open the rear doors from the inside. At least I know now this is possible.
Bez 101: I know about the child lock. That is not what I need. Thanks

So your rear doors open with one pull even when the doors are locked..? That sounds really strange...

Yes. The car has only one interior central lock switch at the drivers' door. All other doors has no interior lock switch and would open with one pull of the handle even if central lock is armed while the vehicle is moving.
I know B7 and older platforms has the 'two pulls' before door open even with the absense of lock switches, but somehow this was not the case for the B8.
I have been looking for a way to enable the '2 pulls' feature, if it exist, with VAGCOM. RossTech responded that there is no such thing. My next thing to do is to get the lock switches install and see if the control module would automatically know to activate the '2 pull' affect. Local dealer is not helpful as it seems I am the only customer seeing this as an issue. They just do not have this experience with the B8.

hmm... Well like I said earlier, on my car, you need to pull two times to open the door when it is locked...
I highly doubt that you can change this with vag-com (or with anything electrical) - when you pull the handle for the first time when the door is locked it feels like you are mechanically disengaging the lock - it is not electrical...

Mine is the same way. I do not recall, and will have to test, if pulling the door handle twice unlocks ALL doors or just the one.

I did a little field work this evening to answer this burning mystery... NPuter is correct. If I lock the doors and then pull the handle on a back-door, it will only unlock that door. A second pull will open the door. Interestingly enough after the first pull, the door lock lights on all the doors turn off, but they are still locked.

TexasEric: Thanks for this field test. This is good information for me.
What about the front doors for your B8s? Do they also require two pull on the handle, or just one?

I was fairly certain about the behavior of the rear doors (which TexasEric verified) but I have no idea about the front doors - I would believe that the passenger door would behave the same as the rear doors, but I have never tried to open my front door while it was loked - my car unlocks when I shift into park...

At least our cars have the "Shift-to-Park will unlock doors" feature in common
It is hard to imagine Audi would employ two different physical door locking mechanism on the same model.

Yeah - I find it hard to believe that they would let you open a locked door with one pull...

Sitting in Park, with the car running and the doors locked, the "unlock process" for the front is almost identical to the back. With the doors locked, one pull on the drivers side unlocks and opens the driver's door. Two pulls are not needed. The lock light will turn off on all doors, but the back seat passengers will still each have to pull twice to get out. I did NOT test what the front passenger has to do, nor did I test with the car in N, D, R, L, or S.

One pull no matter what on the drivers do makes sense for me (emergency purposes?)
I still believe that the passenger will work like the rears though...

Surprisingly, the front passenger door acts exactly the the front driver side door - one pull unlocks and opens the door.

Resurrecting an old thread...my locked rear passengers door even at D will unlock and open with just one pull. In fact, all 4 doors behave this way. I need a way to unlock with 2 pulls!!

After waiting and searching for months, I still could not find any way of making the doors unlock by pulling twice instead of once. Can someone help?
Thanks!
