Did you get those pliers Charlie? They are called Nutbuster by Channel Lock. Things are amazing, I used them on broken studs, stripped bolts and all kinds of stuff. Used them a lot when I was working on outboard engines to swap out the studs in the bottom of the powerheads. We call them stud pliers.

finally go around to working on the car around 6 tonight. Tranny is out and yes the rear main seal was leaking.... seems like one part of the seal, the lip was facing the wrong way so it was slowly leaking. Thankfully there was no oil on the clutch.
Took the rear main seal out and going to put the new one on in the morning and button the shit back up. Also cleaned more of the engine bay up with this foam bright shit that worked pretty good.
I will take some pics and also do a little DIY for the rear main seal since there are some people that ask about it.

You just put that seal in a few days ago, who wants to follow your DIY? lmao
ahahahah true... i thought I was 100% positive the seal was facing the right way (lips facing in towards crank on seal).... i checked it a million times... maybe just backed out or some shit. oh well.
good call on using your chest to wiggle that shit out. was A LOT easier than using a lift to be honest.

this project turned into quite the long weekend haha.
Glad to hear it's finished, time to enjoy.
yea... the weekend I started I finished the engine build but then went out of town for almost three weeks... then found a million things that needed replacing and was waiting for parts A LOT. Then this rear main seal thing sucked but I knocked that out last night and this morning.
I spoke to soon though cause when I was driving just now the waste gate are popped loose again so I have no boost. that is an easy 30 minute fix though.

Oh I know how it goes with these cars, and parts are always 2+ days away from the distributor. I schedule major services around long vacations and availability of my brother to lend a hand (more like drink my beer). Shit just detailing my car is a multi-day adventure.

Yea its part of the game.... when you think you have everything ready to go there is always more shit to get.
Today I have to go get a circlip for the wastegate rod and then a clip for the rear coolant flange temp sensor.

Right now 22 and like 3-5 degrees of timing. When I put the new tbody on I disconnected the meth. Then I did a drive to cali and turned down all the settings pretty low to cruise. Havn't turned it back up yet. Still need to go over 10 degrees of timing to see what this thing has.
