Build of motor is done, as well as complete overhaul of the turbo setup. I originally built the motor and had a 2871r Elim turbo on it and after building the motor decided to get a better/bigger setup.
A list of Everything that I did and all the components. NOTE: all work was performed by myself!
Motor Build:
I.E Rods
New Rings (had to file to spec)
New Bearings
New Rear Main Seal
New Front crank seal
New head gasket
Honed motor
Cleaned pickup tube (again)
New head gasket
new cam seals
New valve cover gasket
New Head bolts
New Crank Bog
Had to replace some stuff during the build:
oil pump chain tensioner (plastic piece was broke)
Oil pump drive gear... was missing a tooth and had to pull it off the crank and press a new one on.
Transmission:
Clutch Masters FX400 240mm Clutch.
Installed this in the car to find out the ring gear was a little go big and causing a loud noise when starting up. CM sent me a new flyhweel to replace it. Before I got a chance to drop the trans again to replace the flywheel.. the clutch fused to the flywheel. This happend the first time I ever launched the new clutch (over 500 miles of stop and go break in miles on it)
Installed new flywheel and took care of clutch.
Turbo:
GT3071R.. .63ar, 2.75 inclet with v-band discharge
PSI concepts T3 manifold
PSI concepts oil/coolant line kit
Tial 38MM wastegate
RAI testpipe with wastegate recirc (made for PSI manifold and 3071r or 76 with 38 MM wastegate)
Custom 3" TIP
and a shit ton more things that i dont feel like typing out.
HUGE THANKS TO:
Mike @ Ringer Racing
Jeff Lee @ PSI concepts
Gang @ RAI
Gang @ PODI
MJM Autohaus (fuck i ordered a ton of OEM parts from them)
Fun times and pics for you all. Scroll through thread pages for all pics.
Well here are some pics.
and its out.
and what appears to be bent valves... gonna order some new ones.
and more progress... as of now... new rods are all on. Gotta hone the cyls and gap the rings (should be done tomorow morning) and then wrap it up. Oh and put the new clutch on...which is easy.
OF COURSE
new rods going on

What are you guys using for the breat hose up to the valve cover?
I know there are a few threads about running heater hose but wanted to see if anyone had a good fix for this?
Basically I need to run a hose from the elbow out breather housing but wanted to see what reducers you guys are using that you can pick up from local home depot or parts store. I have all my shit deleted so only need to run it straight up to the PCV 3 way piece.

I have tons of hoes in my garage :)
What size inner diameter do you need? If it's not too big you can pick up pretty good quality stuff at Napa...

yea the hose i can get from home depot... but wanted to see what people are using to connect it to the elbow out of the breather case then need a reducer to connect it to the 3 way PCV on the valve cover.

There are reducers I've used in the past at Napa as well. I might still have one, I'll take a look before you head up.
I saw in pics when someone was doing the rods they keep the block in the car and just pulled the head and oil pan off? Don't you think that might save some time and still allow you to do everything? Just take your time and enjoy putting in some time on the car this weekend. I can't wait till I get to do it on mine and learn more about the Audi soon.
Hahaha...dood! If the movie director wanted the car in the next fast and furious, I'd definitely submit the car! :-P - BoostBeeyatch

leaving it in the car saves a ton of time... but if you notice in the picture I have to install a clutch... so that requires removing the tranny... or in this case leave tranny in and pull motor which to me is easier.
Not my first rodeo. This weekend will be fun for me.

I see... I just thought dropping the trans and pulling the head and pan might be easier to put back together then the other way around, but with the whole engine out would be nice to clean up the block and everything else around. Have fun and take tons of pics for us. If you get one person to just do the photos and updates would be nice. Cause gressy people with camaras and computers don't go well if you ask me. I always have one guy controlling my tools to not lose them or have to find them, but a good open layout would do the same thing.

Forget pictures. I say time lapse garage cam. That would make for a neat video kind of like this...

yea having hte motor out and on the stand I can clean everything, do some other maintenance etc. It is really easy to pull the motor and leave the trans in. I will snap a bunch of pics..
