UPDATE! Here are a pack of three more things that require wiring! This should resolve any cooling issue I may have.
This is a thermal barrier to protect the paint on the strut tower housing.
This is the underside of the overflow coolant tank. Yes, it will be mirror polished too!

Well, when you repainted your S4 Nogaro Blue with added pearl, you were the one that made me switch colors. So, technically I hated you first. Take that.

I'm pretty sure someone right now is planning a S4 project to challenge that statement. If not, the game becomes stagnant. I hope that my project is a game changer and I want to see what level of creativity develops from this point forward with projects in general.

All of the fab work is finished! Now the focus is on the other aspects of the car. The complete interior is removed so it's alcantara and audio time. I am going to polish and powder coat some parts that I didn't get to address throughout the build so far. It should look pretty clean inside and out once it debuts next year. I have a cool idea for the AUDI-O system, but I gotta run it by Jon first to see if it will work. If it does......good Lord. I'm still waiting on confirmation of the wheel design as well. There is no rush as winter time is around the corner. In March or April it should be finished. I'll update as progress occurs.
I finally found some time to sit down and sort out the OEM wire harness. I laid it all out and removed all of the heat shrink material and thermal protection. It is very tedious using the the Bentley CD wiring diagram, but it will be well worth it. I removed everything that will be controlled by the 034 harness regarding engine management and kept the sensors and connectors that I needed to still operate the factory instrument cluster. Hopefully, in two weeks or less I can start it. Don't count on it though.....so many more little things to do.

Thanks Bro. This was my once in a lifetime opportunity to do something nuts....believe me, this is my first AND my LAST chance.

Everytime I get close to finishing her, something else comes up. Usually it's a good thing though.

Great thread! I'm on the west side of Michigan and I want/need to see this thing next summer when its ready!
I've got family in Detriot and in Muskegon, so you just might see it in person.
Yep, I plan on heading up there with the Milwaukee crew. I will be there for sure. I can't wait to see Mike Olson's new project...it's gonna be pretty redicolous. I actually plan on going to a bunch of shows I just don't know if I can make any of the east coast shows though.

saw on vortex you are still deciding on audio equipment.. you should make a trip over here and hear what some of this audison/hertz stuff sounds like. our installers car is the reason i put audio in mine. and i used to hate the idea of any sort of audio equipment in my car.....
I finally got around to prepping and sanding the coolant catch can, turbo inlet elbow and the valve cover. Here are the results.....
These first three pix are the results of 10 steps from 36 grit to 2000 grit.
This is after polishing.....
Next up! The polishing of the heat exchanger and the radiator followed by the core support. I still have to polish the hoodpin plates. I am still thinking about polishing the turbo compressor. Oh yeah, the wiring......
I want to do it right the first time, so the wires will be shortened for the correct length to each connection. I will do my best to tuck and hide the wiring so the engine bay looks clean and not cluttered. I am about to wire the starter, alternator and install the battery in the trunk. I've got a few more details I want to take care, but I'm ok with the progress so far.
I hate to be "that guy" but your p/s resevoir looks like ass next to everything else you have done, I'm sure you'll make short work of that though right?

I guess that the expectations of this build keep getting raised, but at some point financial restraint has to be considered. That being said, it ain't gonna happen. I have too many other things to finish first. I guess it's a compliment........
Problem. The S4 was coming home but the garage was a damn mess. Solution. Clean it. Paint it. Welcome the S4 back home.
Here are some pix of the mess......
After days of cleaning and throwing shit out, priming the wood, then painting and trimming, here it is.......
I bought some steel hanging cabinets for the rear wall, and I'm refinishing my large floor standing cabinet painting it to match the lower color. The wall colors match both of my cars. The upper matches the Avant and the lower matches the S4. I am going to stain the shelves and paint the brackets to match the lower color. I painted some red accents on the garage door braces and painted the new garage door opener red with plastic paint. I still have to have the floor done with fleck stone this spring and rewire the garage for 220 so I can finally use my compressor along with having more outlets installed as well. I will have air lines installed later on as well. I am going to have some flush ceiling lights installed as well. This garage is gonna be my second home, so I might as well make it comfortable. It already has a little audio system and I bought some inwall speakers too. Of course, I'm only showing the "good side". I'll post up more pix as the garage "make over" progresses.

You could just spray it with black spray paint. If you use a piece of tape to mask off a line it's still pretty easy to read the level. cheap and clean.
Your build looks awesome btw.

use a mega monster can with twist top and make it a power steering res and if you dont like monster and or black you car always strip it clean and make it shine like the res on the car and just have two small aluminum pipes welded onto the bottom.
Maybe in the future I will have a custom reservoir made for the power steering to match the coolant catch can. It's just not a priority right now. Remember, as wild as this car is, it will be street driven with the wife and kids along with me.
The S4 went on a little field trip for the first time.....
I recently polished the heat exchanger and radiator end tanks and tops; the entire crossmember, and the power steering cooler. I also added the radiator and intercooler caps.
The car is at the World of Wheels car show in West Allis, WI. It is being displayed as a "Build in Progress" at AIS's booth (Automotive Integration Solutions) in Waukesha. There is no interior, it's not wired, no tail lights, and no front bumper so I expected the worse in terms of feedback....bringing an unfinished import to a mostly American hot rod car show. Surprisingly, the car has mostly received positive comments. Yeah, I got a few negative ones, but for the most part it's been well received. People love the color mostly and the fact that it's a sleeper. AIS is doing the interior and audio system and Jon is going to do the amp rack in aluminum. Audison and Hertz speakers and amps will installed. I polished my A8 wheels from my Avant to use for the show. I actually like the OEM look, but I will eventually buy some aftermarket wheels. I need to get off of my lazy ass and get this thing running. Four hours of work is all that's left to start it............
I met Austonwerner4 on Friday night and he's a really cool kid. I met ALL of his friends yesterday at the show. LOL!!
