You need radio removal keys, this will allow you to get to the climate control unit.

do NOT attempt to remove the stereo without those stereo removal keys...i believe they are like 15 bucks from your local dealer...hell they'll prolly even pull it out for you if you shoot the tech 10 bucks or something... if you break the tabs back there...

    lol have fun

might get lucky as long as they have those exact tools...seriously...if you dont have the proper tools and you need it done soon...take the one hour drive because if you fuck it up you'll spend alot more than an hour trying to remove it without destroying the deck...

    trust me i know lol

you can buy radio removal keys at walmart you need to buy two sets tho but its still very cheap... less than 10 bucks. once the radio is out you can remove the climate control

I know it is an old thread, but we have a few handfuls of radio keys in stock again. These things fly off the shelves along with the trim removal tools. We also have a nice little video of just how easy it is to pop the radio out. Click here for radio removal keys. Just as listed above, the keys make it incredibly easy to remove the radio!

Sorry to necro bump but it looks like the P/O may have damaged or broken the tabs that the keys are supposed to lock into.

Is there another way to get the radio out besides the keys? I've inserted all 4, wiggled, etc only 1 actually 'locks' and I can see it's able to come out on 1 side but not the other.

    Thanks.

Pull the climate controls out and try to get it out with your hand from the back. I had to do it once don't be scared to apply a little pressure from the back

Can a human hand actually fit through there and up the back to the stereo though?

Ok, I'll try with a combo of having the keys in + push from behind.

Happened to me too, got the right side locked and out, butnot the left, then I got pissed and without any damage at all I was able to pull the radio out, As weird as it sounds, try to leave the keys inserted even when you're trying to take the radio out. If that makes any sense.
