Is that a pic after all that driving? I bought a can at Target a while ago but haven't used it yet.
Just to add to this - After using it for a couple of washes I knew it was working. This time I did the drivers side, left the passengers side untreated. Below is the result after 1 week.
The picture really doesn't do it justice - after 1 week the drivers side is clean, except for a few places where it looks like water settled during some rain we had and then dried leaving some spots. The passengers side is filthy - the inner portions of the spokes and the rim have a good coating of brake dust.
The free trial was a good draw - I'll be a repeat customer.
I applied a coat of this on my wheels last Thursday night and I let it dry all night. Friday morning I was on the road and I did a 1200 mile trip this weekend, went through some road work, gravel, dirt road and even and grass field at some point! I came back yesterday with my wheels still looking spotless! Can't believe how well it works! Great product, love it!

I'm skeptical for a couple reasons... #1) (and most important) Armor All is not known for making the highest quality detailing supplies. 2) While this stuff is obviously some kind of coating/sealant, I'm worried about what it's actually doing (chemically speaking) to the wheel finish, as well as brake components and paint from the inevitable overspray. If such a product were safe and reliable, I imagine companies making quality detailing supplies would have similar products on the market. Armor All is hardly what I'd consider a progressive cutting edge company so this doesn't really seem like a "first to market" situation where they have come up with something that their competitors are unable to replicate. Same goes with Michelin... sure they know tires, but...

I don't see it this way... If there's one company who has the resources to invest in R&D for this type of product, its Armor All ... There are other brands out there but I found this one to be very effective and affordable. On the other hand, does it affect the wheel finish? It doesn't look to affect it at all but only time will tell... Is dirt and brake dust more damaging than this product? I think so....
One thing's for sure, it's really effective... I'm impressed because I personally tought it was BS again...

I agree with all your points Blake. I would love this product to be true, but I am skeptical as well (I have a can in my garage, however, I have not pulled the trigger as of yet) I would love to obtain some feedback from Phil and hear his thoughts.
Phil,
Please let us know your thoughts and feedback on this product.
i hate to sound like an infomercial but this stuff really does work, found some on sale so i tried it on my factory 18's and they have been staying much cleaner
cant speak as to how much its killing the environment but cant be worse the BP
Guys, save yourself a ton of money, and just buy rain-x. The main ingredient in the new armorall is the same as rain-x. Buy a 50 cent spray bottle from home depot, and a gallon of rain-x from ebay, and you'll have enough wheel protectant for the next 4 years.

Hmm. Simple yet so brilliant. Can anyone confirm this is effective?

I was blowing through 1 can every 2 weeks... works well but you have to use a ton of it to make sure you cover enough of the wheel, and I'm runnin stock 17's.
Putting some StopTech Posi-Quiet's on today, then hopefully I won't have to worry about it anymore...

this stuff really does work. i sprayed it on and 2 days later i autox'd my car. that was 2 weeks ago. the cars has seen rain and dirt roads. i still haven't washed the car and the wheels are extremely clean minus the corners. i wish i used the whole can now lol. i did overspray and it started dripping in some areas. i recommend spraying the side of the spoke that faces the front of the car more because the wheel is spinning in that direction and that side of the spoke will get dirty much faster.

ive been using it for a couple of months now, it works as advertised..i skipped the treatment at one wash and with 2 days it started to get dirty...with the armor all, i can go 2-3-4 weeks before it really gets dirty. Not sure if its doing anything bad to my rims...but for the time that i save when washing, i think my time is worth it.

This review is from: ArmorAll 78482 Wheel Protectant Spray 7 oz
Does it work? Yes, partially. You will notice a haze if you look closely at your wheels. It doesn't work against oils. (The online ad will talk about water, dirt and honey ** seriously, honey???) But if it encounters anything greasy, it stops working. It only works for about 5-7 days because the product "rinses" off the wheels and if you touch your wheels, effectiveness goes down.
I did more research on this product. This product contains cyclopentasiloxane. Canada has serious concerns about this chemical, especially when entering water. You are literally putting a thin film of silicone into the environment.
This product is an aerosol product ** and it uses some nanotechnology. I'm not sure how safe it is to breathe this in even in small amounts.
If you do use this, please wash your car either on the lawn or at a carwash because this product will accumulate in wildlife. After doing more research about it online, I am not using it anymore.
I am giving it one star because I'm not sure if people realize how bad some of this could be in the environment.
effffff the environment!!! clean wheels>wildlife
lol in all seriousness, you should look up Adams In and out spray. thats some nasty shit for the environment. Adam's has trouble meeting the epa regulations. when you spray it, you see a cloud of the product floating everywhere
Great product. I picked up a can at Walmart last week and applied last weekend. The wheels are still clean except for few spots that I have missed. I will reapply this weekend after wash...
I decided to try this product a few weeks ago. I used the company car as a guinea pig which is a '09 Jetta Sportwagon. The Jetta emits a serious amount of brake dust on the rear wheels and almost nothing on the front wheels. I only applied it to the rear wheels and I am amazed with how well this stuff works, 2000 miles in three weeks and the rear wheels have really no dust on them....it is amazing.
I picked up a can of this at Walmart and applied some after my Sunday wash. I'm hoping it cuts down on the dust. Does anyone know if Sonax strips this stuff off?
