So this stuff really works as it says. I washed my car yesterday and drove the car no more than 15 mins and already had brake dust coating my rims. I got pissed at the amount of brake dust and was like what the hell no harm in trying this so i went to pepboys and got it (only $9 and there is a rebate on Armour all's website for it to be free). Wiped down my wheels when i got home and sprayed it on and let the car sit for a few hours. Well i have driven about three hours since spraying the wheels and there isn't even any drake dust on my wheels. It only lasts 4 weeks and i used about half the can, i may have sprayed too much on the rims though. This stuff is fantastic and i highly recommend it to anyone who wants a quick and easy way of stopping the brake dust problem.

it actually looks like this....it jus came out a few weeks now, it looks bigger than it really is but it does work. I used a whole can on all four wheels and my exhaust tips and they have been super clean for about a week now!

To the surrounding air I'm assuming, it is surface protectant, basically Pam for your wheels. I can't believe you guys are using a whole can each time you was your car, a can of the Michelin stuff lasts me at least 6 washes.
I only used about half the can. I wasnt sure how much to spray on the car and the can is surprisingly smaller than you expect (its only a 7oz can). I didnt think about spraying it on my exhaust, im gonna do that tomorrow when i get home. I walked out today and thought to myself that my car looks different with shinny silver tires now. Im so used to seeing the "gun metal brake dust" color on my car.

the instructions say, "Liberally spray product over entire wheel..." it jus so happens it used the whole can....lol. I guess it also depends on the wheels u have also (i have the 18" ten spoke sport wheels), the more spokes the more of the can u will use.

So an update for all of you looking at this thread. The car has been driven for 5 days now and there was a little bit of brake dust starting to show on the wheels. I got my hose and sprayed the wheels down and it all came off without me having to scrub the wheels. So it does work in keeping the wheels looking shinny for almost a week but eventually some dust will start to show however clean up is much easier with just spraying the wheels with water instead of scrubbing the wheels.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not environmentally friendly, May 12, 2010

This review is from: ArmorAll 78482 Wheel Protectant Spray 7 oz
Does it work? Yes, partially. You will notice a haze if you look closely at your wheels. It doesn't work against oils. (The online ad will talk about water, dirt and honey ** seriously, honey???) But if it encounters anything greasy, it stops working. It only works for about 5-7 days because the product "rinses" off the wheels and if you touch your wheels, effectiveness goes down.
I did more research on this product. This product contains cyclopentasiloxane. Canada has serious concerns about this chemical, especially when entering water. You are literally putting a thin film of silicone into the environment.
This product is an aerosol product ** and it uses some nanotechnology. I'm not sure how safe it is to breathe this in even in small amounts.
If you do use this, please wash your car either on the lawn or at a carwash because this product will accumulate in wildlife. After doing more research about it online, I am not using it anymore.
I am giving it one star because I'm not sure if people realize how bad some of this could be in the environment.
Hm, this stuff does work :) My exhaust tips aren't black after 3 days of driving, and my wheels aren't gun metal. But I do notice a slight white residue left by the product. Not bad for $8. I used half a can and let it dry overnight.
I would like to note at this time however, that most sealants will have the same effect on your wheels as well. Sealed mine with Jetseal, looking great after a week of rain and some highway runs. But if I spray it with a hose, the remaining dust flies off and the sealant remains.
Armor All products are notoriously cheap and harmful to materials over the long run. Highly suggest a proper sealant or something with more durability like Zaino products. A quick spray and sometimes a gently wipe with a microfiber will return your wheels to gorgeous in no time at all.

I might try the michelin dust repellant next time. I feel like the effects of it are starting to wear off even though it says it lasts for 4 weeks, but its only been 1 week.

You are absolutely crazy if you expect your wheels to stay dust and dirt free over a 4 week span, unless your car just sits in the garage. Take the product for what it is, a simple solution to keep them shinier a little longer. Waxing your wheels goes a long way as well to help stop grime sticking to them.
SO what will this do if you get this onto your rotors and such? I am guessing it cannot be to good if your rotors have a nice coat of silicone over them. I heard these sealers at the finish of your alloy wheels and most guys with chrome rims will not touch these products.
I would love to try it because I hate the gunmetal look but at the end of the day a degreaser and a sponge is all I need, cleaning the wheels has just become a chore and I think taking a short cut which works for an extra 3-4 days at an added cost isnt worth it. I wash the car twice a week if it rains or I am busy atleast once. So it doesnt get too bad but if it does ill wash the car anyways. I hope a walmart around here has it the only thing I would use it on is the tips. Inside goes black and the outside gets dirty.

I can't get stuff like that up here. May have to check ebay or something.
Might stop by Target later. If they have it I can pick up a can for you and ship it over. PM or BBM me if you're interested and we'll work something out.

I didnt mean i expect them to stay clean for 4 weeks straight. I washed the wheels earlier in the week by just spraying them down with water, however the brake dust has come back quicker than the initial time i used the spray. Hence the effects wearing off.
