Can someone confirm that these mirrors are for an 09 and not a 10+? I just want to make sure before I buy them.

Thanks in advance.

OK thanks, I thought so. I've been trying to check out peoples pics and it appears that with the 2010+ the turn signal is in the bottom black part whereas with the 08-09 they are in the body colored part but there are so many different options I wasn't quite sure.

You can also see it where the mirror fold - on 2010+ it will do it in a angle of 45 upwards.

Can any of the expert advice if any chance the controller unit + other wiring need to change in order to meet the electric folding mirror to work? The DIY from you folks in US seems straight forward but I have a UK grey import 2010 S4 in Singapore, and my mechanics keep insisting that someone have done it and not successful here. Kinda of worries me a bit : ( Is there any specific model of the controller that will work or will NOT work and leading to more complication? TIA

Can you post a VAG-Com of your 42-Door Elect, Driver. data? It should list your current control unit model (e.g., J386 8K0959793D) amongst other key pieces of information.

Thanks for jumping in and I don't with the VAGCOM tool and will find time this weekend to head to workshop to capture the data. Cheers!

Here's the image captured on 42 at my workshop
The control unit looks similar but the long code is a bit diff, not too sure if that's becos my ride is S4. Appreciate if you can shed some light before I jump in to purchase the part. Thanks!!!

My Long Coding of 42 and 52 is:
01 1D 02 20 50 00 41 00 01
Where Byte 01 -> bit 0 is set to 1 on mine, because I have retrofitted the Surround lighting under my side mirrors.
I have folding, heated and auto dimming mirrors, and it is a MY 2009
The data of my unit is:
Code:
Part No SW: 8K0 959 793 D
HW: 8K0 959 793 D
Component: TSG FA H11 0250
Looking at your coding, there are differences in:
Byte 04 -> bit 4 - is set to 1 in my code
Byte 05 -> bit 0 and bit 5 - is set to 1 in your code
Byte 01 is the same as mine (because of what I wrote above)

Mine is still manual folding (by hand) so Byte 04 should be at 0. It appear that we have the same window control hardware and the long code diff is just what we have fitted and other function, hope no one see this otherwise, else will try to get the oder done next Monday.

I'm planning a trip to Germany later this year. Does anyone know if it would be better to buy the parts there or here in the US?
Thanks!

Yes - I have the Central Locking menu in the Car menu if that is what you are asking. It has the unlock all doors, trunk lid, unlock beep, etc. options in it.
Doh - I just realized I can enable the codes to see if the fold option appears

I may consider this for the future... I'll try the coding tomorrow...
Do any Audi's in NA have auto folding mirrors when the car is locked?
The reason I am asking is because the R8 that I have become accustomed to has folding mirrors (you can fold them with a switch), however, they are not folded when the car is locked. I looked for an option to enable that, but I couldn't find one.

Its a convenience opening and closing option. You should look for it in module 46 in the adaptations.

Yeah on the R8. If Ross-Tech has kept up you should see some options there.

This mod does work on the AMI. I have a 2010 P- and I installed successfully.

I understand, but perhaps they are cheaper over there? (i.e. no need to pay to transport them elsewhere, for instance, I don't know). I wanted to see if anyone bought them there so we could compare the prices between US and Germany.
Or does anyone know of place in Germany that publishes pricing on these parts?
BTW, David, thanks for publishing this mod and all the others on your web site.

Thank you, TR!
Based on preliminary calculations, if I can indeed get the 19% VAT refunded as I return to the US, this could be a good idea. I'm getting $434.1 EUR (~$650 USD) for the whole kit. Even if I pay the 19% VAT, I'd be looking at ~$770 USD, but then that would be too close to the ECS pricing to justify the hassle. That's all assuming I got all the correct part numbers and that I would actually be able to get the parts for the prices listed.
I'll revisit this again once I'm closer to my trip date.
Thanks again!
-
You’re welcome! Audi/VW dealers usually don’t have these parts in stock so give them at least one day to order them theirselves; I never waited for more than three days to get everything I wanted.

Just so I'm clear, on an 2011 S5, the mirror switch can be set to "auto" and 1) the mirrors will fold when the car is locked, and 2) the mirrors will unfold once you start driving away? Thanks!!

Did you have any tabs break? Several have said that they broke one or two per mirror. Just want to avoid 1 or 2 turning into 3 or 4. So, if your install was breakage-free, please provide any tips you can. :)

Bumping this to see if anyone had a chance to try this on the 2012 models. I'm picking up mine in September in Ingolstadt and would like to buy the parts over (last I checked I could save a bit by doing this). However, I would like to be more certain about this mod compatibility before I jump in.
Did anybody get a chance to apply this mod to a 2012 B8 yet?
-
I have bought the parts and plan to do it to my 2012. I'll be out of the country for a while though, so it won't happen for a long time.

Hey guys!
Bear with since I can be a bit slow at times ,
Question is ECS kit will Plug n play with Vag-Com even if I don't have memory function?
And if I want to source part for a 2011 Premium+ Avant what would the list be?
Cheers Frank

Which "kit" of ours are you referring to?
I can source any part In the Audi data base as long as you give me a description or a part number!
