Maybe this was mentioned already, but what size are the phone dials? I thought they only came in 15" and 16"?

Mine are 18x9.5 and 18x10. They aren't real Phone Dials off of a Porsche, they are three-piece replicas.

You mentioned 18x9.5 et40 up front being as close to the upright as you can get, correct? I'm basically looking to validate an inner clearance data-point.

The front Phone Dials are 18x9.5 et41. When I test fit them on my B6, they just BARELY fit, so yeah, I'd say somewhere around et40 is the lowest you can go on a B6/7 in the front with 9.5s. I'd imagine there's a +/-3mm or so variance depending on the design of the barrel of the wheel though.
Hope that helps.

Sorry, I was referring to the B5, I'm spec'ing out a set of wheels for a buddy. I've got about 2mm left on a 10.5 et30 (on a B7), so yeah, you're right there at the limit of the B6/B7. I wasn't sure how different the uprights were on the B5

Sorry, I forgot to add that I test fit those wheels on my B5 as well and the clearance with the uprights was pretty much the same. I have the steel uprights on my car though, but I don't know if that matters or not compared to the aluminum ones.

No, I tried making some using yellow LEDs. Didn't work and they don't look (or work) very good. Back to the drawing board...

I fucking LOVE this car!
The only thing I don't like about it is the seats, they're SO damn tall!
I also hate the fact I'm poor right now from remodeling my house and planning my wedding, so I can't buy many toys for it at the moment.

Not really, I just followed the DIY from the B5 forum to get the bumper off and paid attention to how everything went together and tweaked stuff as I went along to get it to fit better. I still need to play with it a little more though, it's not perfect.

Dude, I live like 5 minutes away from there. You gotta stop by sometime. How often do you visit AMD?

I've actually never been to AMD. I should swing by there sometime though just to look at the cool stuff.

I'm good on the shift knob, I have a weighted one to go with my JHM shifter.
Car update: It's sitting on jackstands in my driveway with no suspension.
The bolt that goes through the drivers front upright to hold the upper control arms in is fused to the uprights and will NOT come out. I broke a hammer trying to pound the ****** out and it hasn't budged! Bunch of bullshit!

Good thing about So Cal cars is that there virtually no corrosion. Mine came out with no problems.

Yeah, that's one benefit of living in Seattle I often enjoy. However, this car spent a year or two of it's early life on the east coast.
Luckily, I was able to just remove the control arms from the other end and I can worry about this later.

I feel (felt) your frustration Darrick. My car was in Colorado for a few years of its life and had some corrosion issues, mostly with aftermarket and suspension parts.
What control arms are you doing?
-Tony

I'm not doing control arms, I'm just installing new suspension. I usually remove the fronts by popping the control arms out of the uprights and then pulling the strut assembly out. Since I couldn't get that bolt out, I had to reach up and undo the control arms from the upper mounts. No biggie, but I'm NOT looking forward to when I DO have to change the control arms...

yeah. I pull the struts out that way too. Never touch the bolt on the upright unless I'm forced too. Guess that's due to all the northeast cars I work on.
