    Help!!!!! Ecu got wet!!!!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey everyone!!

im new to this site and not to sure how quickly people reply but im in a real jam.....first off im a F***ing idiot for doin this but i took the top half of my ecu box off to run a power wire to my new amp... i forgot to put it back on and i decided to wash my car. That got me into a world of trouble, my ecu got wet and my car is doing some crazy shit:

    4 ways wont go off
    rpm gauge doesn't work
    engine light on
    ecp light on
    car sputters wont idle properly
oil light came on at one point
    and others

i pulled the bracket off the ecu and tried drying everything up. I couldn't figure out how to unclip the harness to try and dry out the connecters, but im letting it sit for a while with the hood up doors open and battery disconected.

if anyone has some usefull advice for me or what im going to be replacing to have it running again please let me know asap

    thanks alot:
    D Robertson.

the ecu itself probably isnt wet inside.. but the actual wiring inside the box that holds the ecu where all the plugs from the engine harness and what not are plugged in is probablyf ull of water.. let it dry out and dont turn the car on.. and it should be fine (if you didnt damage anything by turning it on already)

New ecu. If it didn't run like this pre water damage and does post..the only thin that happened inbetween was te ecu dunked in water. Try to dry it up once more. Past that the classifieds are a good place to start looking.

The EPC light should be on.

Did you try taking apart the ECU to dry it out?

Put it in a bowl of rice. Works for cell phones and I don't see why it wouldn't work for an ECU.

    uncooked. Rice absorbs moisture.
