Just as it says... any idea how to unstick it? Also the rear seat cup holders are stuck in, this is my first A6 so I'm not sure if these are real common issues.

remove the ashtray and then remove the coins. Once this is done, don't put coins back in the ashtray.

I have the same problem. In fact the cover in front of the ashtray has snapped off and will need to be replaced. I know whats wrong, the lighter in the tray tilts upward when you slide inwards. Pull it out and the lighter does not tilt down but stays up and blocks the tray from coming out. So is there a remedy.

Are there coins holding it shut? The cup holders are probably gumed-up with soda or juice.

There is probably coins jammed underneath the lighter. Thats why the lighter does not fully collapse.

To remove the ashtray you need to remove the upper trim, then radio, then climate control, to get to the clips for the ashtray.

Sounds fun, it was stuck when I bought it 4 days ago so I'm slowly discovering minor things here and there.

Mine does the same thing, even when empty. You can see if my fix works for you: push the right side of the ash tray all the way in, then with pressure still applied, slide your hand to the other end of the ash tray, then release.

    Works for me

I had coins stuck under my ashtray, I fished them out with a paper clip.

As for the rear cupholders not opening.....i have one that does not. I broke it though. If yours are stuck....they were probably extended when the rear seat was folded down. Thats how i bent mine up.

PepBoy sells the mirror and magnet set & handle with extension ... I think you can use the mirror w/flashlight to locate the stuffs and use the ext rod magnet to fish it out.

Also very useful if you drop a screw or nuts into tight space.
