Well no pictures yet but it's underway. Looks like I will need to order a few parts to finish the install because Audi has used a lot of one time only parts. Nothing big but it sucks being where I am and finding this out.
The Bentley really let me down on this one. They have missed clips and screws causing a bit of breakage along the way. Nothing I need since I have an entirely new backing but still. Would be nice if it was accurate. I guess this is why everyone lets me go first...
Pictures will be done during assembly to better explain what needs to be done... Speaking of done.. Good night...

Hee Dave!! Do u know if there's a DIY for front heated seats? And the second question: do u know something of VAG-comming an A3 MY2005? Its quite difficult, i tried this week, but VAGcomming a B8 is easier I think...

Not aware of any for the front but to be honest with you I would think the front is easier than the back. It's just a matter of getting the seat cover off and placing the pads in. The wiring from Kufatec comes with the ends on it so you can put it in the harnesses. Problem with the fronts though, you have to replace your A/C controller head unit because that is what controls the seat. Now if you really wanted to you could install the rear seat kit int he front and just use the dial heater like the older Audi's. You would just need to find somewhere to mount the switch.
No experience with the A3. Only ever seen one once. Cute cars though.

What coding do you need on the A3??
On this German site http://de.openobd.org/audi/a3_8p.htm you can get a lot off help, which should cover the A3 (8P) except the S3 and maybe also some of the new Facelift models.

Yep, I checked last week this site, but it's different coding then an A4... A friend of mine got an A3 which he want to dissable the chime beeper (probably not the right word/spelling)

Do you mean the seat belt (Gurtwarnung) beeps?? or the anti theft system??
Both are more less covered in the link.

HI David, did you get any further on this mod for the rear seat heating?
Well all the heating pads are on and the bottom has the cover back on and so does the small side. Problem was the pass through actually needs a different cover so I am waiting for it to be sent from the UK. It's leaving tomorrow. I may try and get the wiring finished over the next week. It looks like Kufatecs wire harness is to short to run how the factory would do it, so I have to lengthen it. Other than that it's pull up a few parts and run it all. Maybe I'll see if I can make some headway this week if the temps play nice. I don't expect any problems though. I think it could be a fairly straight forward mod if your not doing the pass through.
The right rear trunk liner should be pulled to make everything easy which means I'm doing another mod at the same time. I'm installing the 12v plug that the ROW gets. So there will be a write up on that as well.

Thanks for the update, I noticed that too with a front sensor wiring loom i bought from kufatec it was also short and had the wrong plug on it too. Still it was cheaper than the oem harness. Dont forget the pics to show how the install went on the rear seat heating pads and switches. I already have the pass through hence why im not mentioning it

I have more pictures than I know what to do with. There is no science for taking the covers off and on but I'll show how they are attached and give everyone an idea. I ended up braking a few parts on the large backing but it didn't matter since I was replacing it. There was just clips and screws in places the shop manual didn't bother showing. This shouldn't a make a difference to anyone installing the heated seats though since you don't have to remove most of what I did.

David,
When you do post pictures, would you please include some 'before' shots so we all have a basis of comparison?
I am really looking forward to that pass through!!!
Thanks!
If you want to see before go look at your car
My recommendation on the pass through is wait until you can get the seat out of a wrecked car. Unless you really need this in a bad way it's not very cost effective. If I had known I had to replace the seat cover when I started I probably would have abandoned that one. But since I was already so far in it I kept going.
Still going to do the right up since it crosses with the heated seats though.

eh, just move the controls up front and charge your back-seat passengers if they want their asses toasty gotta offset these costs somehow!

David - how will they work and where will you put controls for the rears? Just an On/Off setting, or will they be able to have settings like the front?

Search the main B8 forum for David's Christmas thread and you can see updates on this if there are any. He has about. A million mods going on at once right now, so most the updates are in that one thread
