Honestly, it really is just trial and error. I'm still a noob to photoshop and learning new things every time I open it. I was lucky enough to have a few talented friends on PS help me out.
Just keep practicing and you'll see results. Also, my favorite thing to do if I'm not sure how to do something (like lowering a car at first) is to google it. For example... type in, how to lower a car in photoshop.. there's a lot of tutorials out there.
My biggest tip to anyone is to ALWAYS create a new layer if doing something new to your original image as well as saving the PSD file.
