Got my car back today with the full stage 3 treatment. I'm really happy! Only running on 5lbs of boost right now(Jan 10). I'm going to start linking to this thread as my sig. I'll update with descriptions, pics and vids as I go. I went crazy and did 14" Alcons in the front, S4s in the rear, and a 30psi boost gauge from IMP concepts too. Big thanks to the guys at Exalt for getting her done! It was...fun.

Other than replacing the RS4 reps with BBS REs a few months later, she stayed like this for the next 10 months.
I had a BLAST taking her on track with NASA.

Then, on my way to Buttonwillow for another round of fun in October, my clutch went out. Decided to go full stage III at that point.
Need to work on the pics and vids of the latest setup.

In the pic, you can see the LEDs are split into three groups. Green shows boost from 0 - 10. Yellow from 12 - 20. Red 22 to 30.
In the video, I am just demonstrating the peak hold feature. I'm at 15lbs of boost right now. When I crank it up, I'll try to make a new video that shows the gauge going up thru the range....not all the way to 30lbs tho. Click for vid.

shiet baby i wanna drive with you , no homo :)))))))
Some day I'm going to make it up there for Laguna Seca, Thunderhill & Infineon. Of course, you could cruise down to Buttonwillow or Willow Springs. Tracking the A6 is a blast!

Very Nice! Congrats.
Take it VERY VERY easy on the RS4 clutch for a good 1200 miles. I mean it.
I broke mine in, drove it very carefully for a good 900 miles. Once, I got 1,600 miles I started to do some launches (3 tops, over a couple weeks time) and after that it started to slip big time. Not install error. Driver error! O well. I had fun!
Now, I have about 2,300 or so on the clutch. All seems fine now. No slips. It must have re-seated. I have been taking it real easy and driving like an old lady coming home from church. I don't plan on doing any launches any time soon.
Enjoy the new power! A6 is the ultimate sleeper.
The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist, then poof he is gone.
If you don't mind me asking what was the cost of the parts alone? I'm sure it was pretty damn high.
I was already Stage II+. So, for the latest round, I bought the following:
AWE K04 Kit w/fueling
RS4 clutch & AWE LWFW
Alcon 14" & S4 Rears
3" DP
SMICs
boost gauge
A few of those were full price, a few were good deals and the rest were great deals. Not going to go into details. But, you can look up the prices and subtract a little. In the end, it was "pretty damn high". BUT, you gotta pay to play.

The install was going on during your "clutch" thread. Had me a little concerned. However, I haven't had any problems at all yet. I've put about 300 miles on it so far. At 5lbs of boost, it's easy to keep it smooth. But, when bedding my brakes, I got on her a little. It's been just fine. Crossing fingers that nothing happens like the stuff you had to go thru. Also, I'm not too big into launching. It will get it's abuse on the track (road courses).
Thanks Jeff. Not a ton of Stage III A6s in SoCal. LOTS of B5 S4s that are Stage III. You'll get your's sooner rather than later!
i know.. i swing by to the euro meet in in oc, there's a bunch of s4's..lol...
in my area im the only one who got a 2.7t c5 bunch of them is a4, now i got 2 neighbors that has a c5 1 2000 c52.7t but i dont know if his an enthusiast havent talk to him, and a newly moved 2 houses from my house an a6 avant 2.8 so im not sure owner is probably a real family man... but will see
yeah i wish i can go stage 3... not at this time... baby is on the way...thats my excuse...lol... all my plans on a slow crawl right now... but after that.. all out.. lol..
I like them a lot. I like the stance. I have adjusted the ride height a few times. And, the best part for me, since I take it to the track, I like being able to adjust the stiffness. Being able to tweak the settings at the track with an hex key is awesome.
post some pics dammit! lol. sounds like a really fun ride!
all these threads are making me power-hungry and wanting to go stage 3 and/or meth injection...but im WAY to broke at the moment to do any of that at the moment.

I'll take some pics this weekend. I doubt I'll have a chance during the week.
hahaha... maybe sometimes... i wanna see your monster ride in action.. any events or gtg you go to...? we should start gathering the c5 here in sd.. lol
I'm going stage 3- next week I'm thinking. Have a pile of parts, just need to find the time.
Once I get that broken in, time for fueling. I can't wait, but I'm a little concerned about not buying a stage 3 clutch....
Just don't go crazy and the clutch will last you a little while... but while you have the motor out it would be a good time to replace the clutch obviously

are you going with an actual stage 3- tune, or staying with your current tune until you get fueling? reason i ask is i'm going to be doing the same thing at around the end of February.

You're already stage 2. So, what kind of clutch are you running right now? How many miles on it? If you're going to be putting K04s in, the motor will be out. It's the perfect time to replace the clutch.
My stock clutch went out shortly after I chipped her. I had a Spec stage 2 clutch for about 30k. It went out. Which led to this build. I am very happy with the RS4 clutch so far. Of course, I've only put about 600 miles on it. I don't do a lot of 5K drops. Mine gets abused when I do track weekends with NASA at Buttonwillow, Willow Springs and Auto Club Speedway.

My car is giac chipped already, and I will be putting ko4's and an rs4 clutch in probably next week.
I will be keep the chip I have until I get fueling and an actual stage 3 chip. How long that will take..... I couldn't tell you.
For the rest of you asking questions, I'm concerned about running an rs4 clutch with a stage 3 tune as everyone in the b5 s4/rs4 says go vast stage 3 or don't bother....

Being different means nothing if you don't have taste

i may be wrong, but isn't the RS4 clutch just a stock disk with a different pressure plate?
isn't that kind of defeating the purpose? all your doing is making it engage harder. it's still going to shred the disk, just not as quick.
but then again i could be totally wrong.

if there's one place to go overkill, it's the clutch. it's nice to know that you can beat on it all day and not hurt it. plus, you can mod to your hearts desire without worrying about your clutch disk exploding.
just look at it as an investment. lets say you buy an RS4 clutch and it can't handle the power and randomly decides to grenade. now your out the cost of the disk, and need to resurface your flywheel. not to mention the cost of install if you get it done at a shop. in the long run it could end up costing you considerably more then to just buy a good clutch in the first place.

Well, the problem with a clutch is, the more stout it is, the less driveable it becomes. I expect the RS4 clutch to hold up to my style of driving AND, still give me a civilized drive when others are in the car with me. There's always trade-offs. Always.
OK. Added the story of her evolution up to just before the Stage III build. I need to get out there and take pics and vids of the latest and greatest now!
