    Heated seats

Has anyone tried to add the heated seats to a car that didnt come with them. I bought my car in Florida and I brought it to Wisconsin and its f'ing cold here so I want heated seats. I have the stock recaros but non heated.

Are the elements in the seats already or do they actually not put them in?

Is the wire harness in the car or do I have to get that plus the switches and heating pads?

    Re: Heated seats

i think it could be safe to assume the wiring to the seat would already be there, but the elements in the seats would not.

you'd also have to get ahold of the control module as well.
keep in mind... these are just assumptions.

    Re: Heated seats

I actually saw a DIY for this but after a couple pictures I told myself that there is no way that it was worth it. I don't have a link but I'm sure you could find it if you really had your mind set on it.

Here is what you need to wire it.

Also need the new climate control that has seat heater buttons.
You can get more info from them if needed.

According to this website most recaros are fitted with the heaters. I will have to contact them to see what else I would need.

If I were you I would do whatever I need to make 100% sure the heaters are in the seats before you do anything else, because if they aren't that's where the biggest part of your expense is likely to be. Not only to purchase the heaters, but to have them installed by a good upholstery shop. You could get a pair of hog ring pliers and rings and try it yourself, but I'd be concerned about screwing up the seats...

Start by pulling the seat so you can get in there from the underside and see if you can see the heaters or reach your hand up there and feel them... If you can't tell, then I'd try to trace the wires, maybe you can find a wiring diagram somewhere... Good luck.

Good advice! I thought about doing that but I will have to wait until spring. I dont have room in my garage because everything gets put in there for winter. I emailed that company and asked them a few questions. Hopefully they will get back to me.

    Re: Heated seats

I've had to replace seat heaters in these seats before at the dealership... not fun...

The seat covers (leather) come off and can reinstall, you have to have hog nose pliers and new hog nose rings.

    says the guy in SoCal!

-10 to -30 and getting in your car after being parked outside overnight in Wisconsin will change that opinion

    Re: Heated seats

I would just trade with a California/Florida guy...if you can find one.

Or, buy a second set of Recaros and sell these. The cost difference there might be $300-400 depending on how efficient you are on your bid-ask spreads. That'll more than cover the retrofit of the coils...and it'll be perfect, not half assed.

    p.s. maybe Drew will trade

    Re: Heated seats

I know i might get flamed for this, but here goes... On a few of my fleet trucks,(GM),they came with cloth seats.I bought OEM leather kits from upholstery shops who do conversions. While the cloth was off,i bought some aftermarket seat heaters and hooked them to power along the power seat areas along the seats lower side.I didnt want to see some aftermarket generic switch visible in the cabin, hence why i hid them best i could but still user friendly. My last few GF'f were pains in the a$$,so i put them in to stop the bitching. Good luck...

Your in California! It doesnt get cold there. If it does its not to bad and it wont last. The cold here last for 4 months minimum. Its not as bad with the suede but it still gets gold.

    Re: Heated seats

Does anyone know the part number for the climate control module with the heated seat controls? Also, I am unfamiliar with the interiors of the B6/B7 S4. Did the climate controls change between the two models? Shokan has a few 2004 S4's and I wasn't sure if they would be the same.

Thanks so much for any help !
