Wich Addiction for lunch today...
I had the blackened hanger steak sandwich with horseradish sour cream and the corned beef hash. The hash was ridiculous, and the steak sand was good.
My coworker got the gouda stuffed burger with the dill pickle aioli. I didn't taste it, but he seemed quite pleased.

Had Apple Pan over the weekend...had a steakburger with cheese and shared a tuna sandwich and fries. All so good. The black olives really make the sandwiches they make..don't understand why they are so good and I've never found another place that sells the same kind.

I welcomed the return of soft shell crab season with a soft shell crab sandwich at King's Fish House.

Had Hook burger over the weekend...thought it was some fancy burger restaurant at first but it turned out to be like any other fast food place but with nicer seating and they serve alcohol. Burger was alright with decent ingredients but pretty dry patty with no flavor. It was basically like Car'ls Jr. with better quality and fancy seating...not really worth going back to unless you just want a quick burger and beer on tap.
Just had some pizza from the new Two Boots that just opened in DT LA. I guess they are a popular NY chain. Again, good ingredients but nothing special. The pepperoni is not thin and crispy the way it should be and overall, just an average pizza with noticeably better quality ingredients than most others around here. The sauce has a spicy flair to it and I suppose that is from their Louisiana "heritage" even though there is no location in Louisiana. The NY pizza place on 6th by the park is better and cheaper overall IMO but this new place does have a lot of options for many different flavors if you are buying by the slice.

We did a Cinco de Mayo party on Saturday, and catered it from Enrique's Tamales in Monrovia. Rice and beans were meh, but the TAMALES are the BEST I've ever had. Ever. We're regulars there, but I thought I'd let you guys in on the secret. We had the red chile pork tamales, but their others are good as well. Get extra red sauce on top - so spicy. Heaven.

Gratuitous beer shot from the party...

I had The Crab Cooker in Newport Beach and I do say it was delicious, and I dont eat fish. So i guess that somthing to say.
Also for a good burger try Deemers in Laguna Niguel/Hills off of Oso/La Paz.

Nice..The Crab Cooker is the best seafood around. Just the stuff they have in the fresh market in front is unbeatable. I usually just get some smoked salmon and albacore with chowder and bread...bring it to the beach across the street and feast.

Ate at McDuff's in Redlands on Saturday morning. Tiny hole in the wall. Great food, though. Worth hitting it up if you're out that way.

Saturday night my wife and I went out to Mesa, in Costa Mesa. It was very cool astheticaly (modern styling and made to be a lounge type place), it was was kind of a hoity toity place (did I spell that right) but the food was good, parking sucked and it was expensive for the amount of food you get. Overall a 4 out of 5 for something diiferent. Oh and it's New American dishes. American with a twist I guess.

Dan, we need to set up another regular meet in the Pasadena area again. Kirk should never have moved the original one as, although it got slow a few times, it would have survived and the crowd would have picked up. It's a seasonal thing. He destroyed it when he moved it.

And Marc, enough of the Mexican food. You need to broaden your menu quit eating so many beans an rice. That last plate looked solid though.

LOL. Alex and I went there for breakfast yesterday. I had the same thing. Couldn't finish it. So, yes, that's too much food for one sitting. Alex cleaned his plate, though - belgian waffle, bacon, eggs, potatoes.
We went by your house yesterday afternoon, but you weren't home. If you haven't talked with him yet, you should. He's got news.
I'm in agreement with the meet...but I always have been.
