Red oil pressure light is on. Need some help

I've taken all the steps I know up to this point. Oil pressure light(red oil can) would come on intially during acceleration then go away once I got rolling(no red oil can). In stop and go traffic it would go on and off.

Next step replaced the oil pressure sender. No light on start up but once I start moving the light comes on and with the new sensor it doesn't go away while driving. Chalked it up as a bad sensor and replaced again. Same thing.

A lil worried about the light I get the oil pressure checked. Pressure is ok.

Next step seafoam. Still the light prevails.

Pulled sensor and cleared out the port as best as posssible and this light will not fcuking go away.

Btw Ive always used synthetic oil and changed every 3k.

    Suggestions? Anyone.....

This is a shot in the dark...but maybe a clogged breather hose? The spider hose can get clogged up pretty badly.....

Re: Red oil pressure light is on. Need some help

crankcase vent hose will not cause low oil pressure warning, im not sure about the 2.7t but is there 2 oil pressure sensors, a high and a low pressure, i know there are some vag engines out there that run 2 oil pressure sensors, as well its really important with these cars to get correct application, i had a 12 valve 2.8 A4 a couple years back that i was experincing same problem with, i got an oil pressure sensor from napa, autozone, and kragen and yet still had the light and warning message appearing. Measured my oil pressure and it was good within specs was really racking my brain and figured i would try a factory part. Went to audi and they looked it up by VIN and no more oil light and i drove that car for 3 years happily with no more oil light after that. So in my experince with oil pressure sensor get the factory part and forget it!

Re: Red oil pressure light is on. Need some help

Did you replace both? Did you put the correct one in the correct spot? You will need to figure out which switch is supposed to open under which conditions, high pressure or low pressure, then check the continuity of the switches under idle and higher speed operation to find the faulty switch. So, for example, if the low pressure switch is normally open and closes when a certain pressure is reached, you check the continuity of that switch with the engine off and it should be non-continuous. Start the engine and run it at a fast idle and the switch should close and be coninuous. The opposite should hold true for the other switch. One of these is probably bad or the wrong switch and needs to be replaced. My guess is that initially your low pressure switch was bad and you replaed both switches with low pressure switches.

    Good luck,

    Bob

I replaced the switch on the bottom of the motor behind the the oil cooler. It has a single plug connector.Don't know which one that is. Where is the location of the other sensor and what is the the state of each(n/o or n/c).

You're all getting rep... because the first step is admitting you have a problem.
