when we push the button to turn off the traction control is it fully disengaged?

in a benz of beem if you turn off the traction control there is still the "save your ass" mode on. so it never really lets you do anything you want(crash). quick tip, in a beem if you hold the button down for 5 sec then the system is totally off.

just curious if the system will let you do anything you want or in the extremes will the system think something is really wrong and intervene?

I do believe that our system is either off, or on. No in between.

Would you please specify a source for this? I just read my owners manual and it explains the Electronic Stability Control (ESP), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL), and Anti Slip Regulation (ASR) on page 256-260.

In the manual it does not state anything about about a two stage deactivation similar to what is in the Bimmers. The manual states that if you press the ESP button, it simply shuts off the ESP but the ABS and EDL are still on.

dont have the manual with me. its in the car. but i dont know if your manual is different .......my manual is for 2008 A4 and it states that ESP button has 3 "states" and to fully deactivate ESP you need to hold the button for 3 or 5 seconds.....
