I like it too, But i have a fully built 2.3 liter dsm motor looking for a chassis. So this kind makes me start to think. This would take some serious modification i assume, that being said i cant wait to see it finished. Heres my stroked 2.3L 4g63 with wiseco pistons, eagle rods, SBR Stage IV head, 280 deg cams and probably going to throw a FP 3065 turbo on it
Who said evo's can't be fast?

I guess a built "stage 3" 2.0 shortblock, built "stage 3" heads, tilton clutch, upgraded cams, hta 35r, standalone, custom manifold, and dual pump fuel systems is a bolt on build though. Now stfu since you clearly lack the mental capacity to read his original post and have an inteligent debate. Why don't you reread the thread, develop some logical arguments and come back and try to have a discussion rather then starting a pissing match?

700hp is nice, but atleast the vr6 motor is a german motor!! its from a VW which is pretty much the little bro of the audi..... a freakin 4g63 in an audi is a disgrace!! keep that shit in the dsm's!!
shut up you fool. It's idiot fanboys like you that just make the german scene such a joke. Its an engine, a good one, superior in a lot of ways to plenty of german made engines, that's what matters. People like you have such narrow minds it makes me sick.

reduced lag, better powerband, head spacer and arp head bolt can achive over 550whp, more potential in the future.
Could you inform how you have "reduced lag" with less displacement, and a smaller selection of turbos?
I have seen FP red, a stock frame turbo, spool faster than anything you can imagine, AND run low 10's.
Can you also explain how there is more "potential in the future". What does that mean? 4g63 is a MUCH bigger market, so there is always going to be more development with aftermarket components, which is already quadruple the amount of support for audi related mods.

Im not nutswinging im posting info. You seem to be more of a cheerleader so what are you talking about? He said hes never seen a 9 second daily driver so I posted one. I said nothing about that specific car being bolt on. You are clearly a forum post whore since I see you post ur bs all the time while I research on here. So check yourself mr thinks u got status

lol.. Funny how you think that German cars with motors out of Evos is what makes the 'German scene'.
Like I said before, good luck to the person building this, but go try doing this to a car like the e39 M5 or C5 RS6 and see how much support you get.. It's not the German scene that's becoming a joke - just the B5's.

...ummm...if you read so much then how is it that you misread Guru's post several times? He said he has never seen a DD evo run 9s WITH BOLT-ONS. Evo's are fast, we all know this, but running a 9second quarter in an evo is still expensive. what are you talking about "thinks [I] got status?" It's an internet forum, there is no such thing as status. Either you know what you're talking about or you don't.

Cool project!!! For taking the time to do this. Motor swaps are a piece of cake if you are good with numbers and stuff (measuring).
I stuffed a Toyota 2TG (1.6L 16V, twin cam) in a brand new Suzuki Samurai back in 1988...all it takes is a simple adapter plate, pilot bearing and a flywheel solution. Back then I chose to use a simple spacer since the 2Tg only made 177HP.
Samurai did wheelies in first and second gear though.

A DSM, HONDA or a VW are as equally tunable when evenly compared.
chip to chip / standalone to standalone
i disagree.... my CRX is defiantly more tunable than my S... but maybe i'm not in the know about these things.... what software allows me to burn my own maps on my ECU for my S similar to chome or uberdata ECU hacks for hondas.....
when i first read the thread I was in disgrace of the swap... i just don't like evos specifically for their ease of tuning (subie>mitsu) however i didn't comment... i feel now after all the flaming it is time to chime in... and no i don't have "4 rings" next to my user name, but the guys who do and are hating this swap i challenge you to make a better build.... i can see how this could potentially be advantageous... in theory the motor is lighter, and smaller... push it further back against the firewall to help weight distribution..... I remember sometime around 2004/5 when a small tuning company called Jun teamed with tanabe (i believe) to build the first sr20 powered 350z.... it got flamed too.... until it passed the mopar team's viper mid-drift in D1 competition..... I say keep with it... and let’s see what happens.... i hope its successful.

Thats actually kinda why I like the VW/Audi scene so much, this seems to drive people to be different. (painted roof racks with kegs, rust hoods, junkyard tuning). you could either do that, or spend lots of money to be different, its really up to you.
why is every post on that thread positive..... i thnk the only reason the B5S4 seen is crumbling because there is too much anamosity.... can't we just get along.....

is there a question in that.... or just a statement with rolleyes.... if there is a question i can address it better with a little more info on what the question is....

I think its positive because its obviously an improvement over the stock motor in an audi 90, and its on honda-tech so not 100% audi people.
Here we are all audi people, and the difference between the motors are very slim. Its also being put into a car that we more closely relate to.

at the end of the day, people are going to do what they want to in terms of engine swaps. im curious, did you guys consider the I5 20v? i mean if you were going to go through the troubles, that would be an awesome platform to build on, no?

Good lord, you're a pile of fail ain't ya? How is this a step forward in the German scene?? It's a JDM engine in an Audi for crying out loud. Nothing has been accomplished to make Audi more serious over competition. Explain to me what the German scene should be like?? Just a bunch of 9 second timeslips? It's a little deeper than that Pink Shrimp I'm sure engineers at Audi designed our cars to do a little more than simple fast passes down the quarter.
My opinions on this matter aren't against Derek as we all know he's a fountain of knowledge here and knows more on the S4 motor than I do for sure. But we did just hand over our balls to the JDM crowd. Any sort of arguement that we could've backed up on serious Audi's will be shadowed by the rebuttal that one of our fastest Audi's is powered by a Evo heart. I'm not an Audi nutswinger, my garage is outnumbered double by other brands, but I do believe in dealing with the cards you're dealt, and making the most out of it. I love Evo's and if I had a chance to buy one cash I'd do it in a heartbeat, I won't argue that they do indeed have the better flowing head over the 1.8t by FAR (I don't even see why you guys are arguing the 1.8t here, it should be the 2.8 or 2.7 in question) Yet, the 4g63 belongs in an Evo. I would be if I saw an 4.2 twin turbo or a I5 like audirs mentioned, as then we'd be progressing as a community.
I'm sure this is a fun as hell personal project, I want to see #'s on the dyno and the track
(what is the difference in weight between the 2? also I'm sure it sits back a couple inches further, so it could actually help in weight distribution, we're so front biased )

What?!?!?!?!?!
fact is...it is! This is my second post in this thread and it still makes me cry...all the money and effort put into making this bolt up you could of had a fully built 2.0T audi/vw motor with all the trimmings and a massive snail hanging off of it with AEM tuning.

Sometimes I regret being in the Audi community simply because of half of the arrogant assholes that drive them. This build is unique. Yes, the 4g63 has been put into alot of different cars, but has anyone else done this in a b5 S4 yet? No. Could he have gone to the 1.8t and been original? sure. (as far as im aware), but instead he chose something a bit different with just as much if not more potential as the 1.8t. In my book, this build is very cool, and deserves respect from everyone.
If you dont like it, or dont have anything positive to say, gtfo out of the forum (or this topic) and go about your business as this really doesnt affect any of you. Stop the childish arguing.
Good Luck with the build, and keep New Pics coming
I'm all for cool/different engine swaps... Sometimes that's what it takes in order to get what you want. Just did an S2K swap into a Hachi-Roku drift car with a friend of mine. And before anyone knocks the Hachi-Roku, google it, the Roku is one of the finest drift cars in existence. Yes its ugly as fk, I won't argue that. Why would we do this? The Roku weighs about 800lbs lighter than the S2K, and. Thats why.

You never know man. Not every tuner in this world posts on forums. I wouldn't be all that surprised if this has been done on a regular B5 A4 platform. This thread is a great example why some of the best tuners don't even bother with forums.

I have a fully build 2.3L 4G63 sitting in the shop for a 99 GSX that I am building for a customer. I have owned 3 of these motors, 2 of which were built with big turbos. They are reliable and easy to build and tune. I am looking forward to this build. Nothing wrong with something different.
