Don't get me wrong Derek, you know I love crazy stuff like this just as much as the next guy. You said some things about my beloved motor and I responded. Wish you much success with the project, but I need to defend my baby haha!

Good choice on the turbo, that is my choice as well for my 700whp build. I need to sell this 35R so I can step it up to the next level. I'm guessing I will have to run another 5-10psi to get the same numbers if you are keeping the revs under 9k and probably much more boost if you are revving it to the moon. Look forward to results sir

Re: Guruman, we are coming for you...

Honestly, it could be a really fun car. Audi's drivetrain and suspension design with the 4G63 power plant is a pretty cool match.

For those that are poo-pooing on the 4G63, you need to own one to appreciate the power they can make for very little money.

The fact of the matter is that the DSM body and drivetrain is junk. Trannies are like glass and the AWD system is completely obsolete.

Personally, I'd go with a 6-bolt 4G63 and bump up the pistons to a higher compression ratio. Out with the 7.8:1 and in with an 8.0:1.

Why do Audi's (well, B5's mostly) get ravaged like this? This would probably never happen with cars like the e39 M5..

Oh well, good luck with the build.

Wow, OMG this is like THE MOST genius and breakthrough B5 evar!!!!

I don't really see how impressive it can be to drop in a motor with "mediocre numbers" (because 700hp is no big deal in the 4g63) in a different chassis just to be the top dog in #'s. Doesn't take a whole lot. Oh boy! I guess I'll drop in one of many LS7 twin-turbo's into a B5 to achieve 1500hp and make a thread saying "Watch out 4g63 B5, I'm coming to get ya"

    Congragulations, you've accomplished.... nothing

EDIT: You know what, I won't edit my comment as I never take anything back, but I won't be complaining or bitching about someone else's work. If it works out for ya, great and congragulations. Not my style, but that's diversity

I really don't see anything wrong with this. I love cool projects and this seems like a cool project. Just don't let it stop you from finishing that single build you got going on, I'm looking forward to seeing results from that. Keep it up

Even your user name screams audi nutswinger. I can't wrap my head around why so many people in this thread are taking this swap as a personal offense, its a cool idea and the 4g63 is a great motor. Good luck with the swap and making this forum somewhat interesting, half the people bitching never seem to contribute anything interesting here anyways.

Not a fan of EVO's at all. Don't know why you put it in a S when you could of did it in an A4, would of been alot cheaper for you. I don't really like the idea but I'm interested to see what happens. This makes me wanna buy an EVO and throw an S4 motor in there, and have Audi emblems on it (just talking out of my ass i'd never buy an EVO there booty).

Re: Guruman, we are coming for you...

When building a VW/Audi for power, the only par more costly than an EVO or Honda IMO is the 20 Valve head.

He even make all that power with is chipped ECU !

As for blocks, a DSM crank, Honda crank are not better than Ours...

The max bore is 83.5mm, the only part where I think we suffer a little compare to others.

We dont need to sleeve our blocks ( that kind of saving, invest in a good head porting job )

Really if I had listened to the Audi community for my car, I would still be a stage 3- and remove my passenger seat to try to go faster...

hahaha this is a joke...4g63 in an Audi...total facepalm in my book! You can make anything make power when you got the resources, money and time. Just like Guru said...a 9 second Evo is gonna cost you the same as a 9 second S4.

Have you done the swap? How are you arguing cost?

Not to mention if you want to just be at the 500-600whp threshold, you can do it without touching the block. Try doing that with the 1.8T.

3rd(-4th-5th or whichever we're on) the facepalm.

not offended with a DSM motor in a VAG, just the 4g63 fanboi motor is a waste.

i would say you are being original, but morons have been shoe-horning 4g's into kias and hyundais for years.

Why not do something cool like a 3.3l air cooled boxer motor?

Unfortunately most high-power, unique builds will take time to come to fruition. We have seen bolt on GT car take years to build.

I'm just messing with you. It's nice to see something different. IDC if it has a honda motor and big turbo, if it puts down power and doesn't blow up every 2 minutes then good job. I'm all for unique motor swaps, that shit's way cooler then a k04 car.

Good luck with the build. I like when there is good friendly competition on the forums. It keeps things exciting and it paves the way for other ideas. It raises the bar for everyone and only leads to more innovation in the community. I don't care what motor you put in, it will lead to people being more idealistic and creative.

I've only met two people with supra's in this town... Both are above 700whp

    Interesting build.

Are you serious? You don't have nearly as many tuners for VW/Audi as you do for the DSM/EVO/Honda crowd so that's why you see the ridiculous prices on everything for these cars. More tuners competing=lower prices...

We dont need to sleeve our blocks ( that kind of saving, invest in a good head porting job )
The 4G63 is an iron block, only the Honda your referring to needs sleeves. And the head on the 4G63 flow PLENTY to support big power, no porting necessary.

That car has made over 1000whp and ran numerous passes with no drive train issues, yet all he has for trans work is a stock rebuild with double synchro 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Stock T-Case, stock rear diff and stock axles as well. And for head work, it's just cams/springs/retainers.

Now saying all of that, I would never put a 4G63 in an Audi, just like I would never have put a LS1 in my Mustang. But I do love being original, and I can't wait to see what this car will do...

Sorry if you feel offended, I speak from my local experience...

A 9 sec street evo with Bolt-ons, I've never encoutered that.

I'm just trying to say that Evo's are better maybe to get in the 11's with stock Bolt ons...

But to get all the awd cars in the 9's, sorry but it costs as mush in every camp...

A DSM, HONDA or a VW are as equally tunable when evenly compared.

What is so hard to understand

Dsm dont achieve 700 whp with bolt ons, it needs machining and engine work. but 450 whp is an other story...

I guess some of you guys will never realized that part in staying stage 2 and 3...

Guruturd needs to stick to spending money. Dynofalsh makes the same power in a daily driven street car that your friend is making in his fully built drage car. Face the facts 4G63>1.8T

And this is just one of a ton of companys that do this. Wheres all the high hp 1.8Ts? PUmp gas 700whp? Yeah you were saying?

I didn't mean to, just annoyed at people like Audi till I die, but nothing you said was offensive to me.

A 9 second street EVO with bolt-ons is nothing I've ever seen before either. But yes they are much better equipped because of the engine they have and the rather large turbocharger they have stock. Hell even the stock DSM turbocharger(14B) is getting cars into the 11s nowadays.

But I do disagree with your statement about getting an AWD vehicle into the 9's. I'm not saying it's easy by any means, but getting an A4 into the 9's has yet to be done as far as I know, yet there are so many DSM/Evo vehicles there you can't keep track. Tuning, which is pretty much the most important thing when trying to go fast is a hell of a lot cheaper with them with programs like Link(which I run on my Talon) and ECUFlash(had on my WRX) Unfortunately my Talon can't be flashed like an Evo, but a used Tactrix cable which I picked up for $125 shipped and ECUFlash which was free, and you have what you need to tune on the EVO/Subaru platforms. My DSM was a bit more expensive as Link is in the $600 range, but for these prices you can't get anything comparable in the VW/Audi world, your mostly confined to OTS maps for a handful of turbochargers from even fewer tuners.

That Talon that I posted about has such a ridiculously simple setup it's almost hard to believe it will run 8's at over 160mph. There is nothing exotic or custom about his setup, just an extremely well thought out car that is running very fast.

I know what your saying about when evenly compared, but to me it doesn't really matter when have so many VW/Audi vehicles struggling to run serious times and yet there so many fast DSM/Evo vehicles that it is pretty much commonplace.

Sorry for all the off-topic nonsense
