I suppose all the vr6 cars are a disgrace as well. Afterall, they aren't really audi motors either.

700hp is nice, but atleast the vr6 motor is a german motor!! its from a VW which is pretty much the little bro of the audi..... a freakin 4g63 in an audi is a disgrace!! keep that shit in the dsm's!!

And Rosemary proceeded to Catharin with intentions of a marriage with Theadore. When she arrived, Theadore opened the door and shot a blow in her eye, laughed, and stabbed her in the face with the mystical sword of Gizzru.
why would you take that out of the light car it belongs in? you put it in a heavy car with notorious problems and you are trying to fit it to a new drive train? its already fast and awd. i would just build a dsm. way cheeper. lol

You guys are just affraid to push these Audi's
A 9 sec EVO will cost as much as a 9 sec Audi to build, period
not like the 2.7 motor doesnt have VW all over it.
Your point?

i get that they both cost money and i see that its just do be different but just because you can doesnt mean you should....a 9 sec evo guna be easier to build that a 9 sec audi. it seems like you are going the wrong way. if you want to go fast in the 1/4 an audi is a stupid choice imho. if you want car that will smoke almost everything all around and then take out a date, then an audi is perfect. i guess im just not understanding
the VR6 is in fact an Audi engine as well. Ever heard of an A3 3.2?
Good point, but it was never in a B5 chassis.

You are funny. I am the one studying for the GMAT, while you are community college dropout.
The fact that you can't use the proper grammar when calling someone an idiot...well, the smart boys will realize the hypocrisy.

lol, I lol'd. You don't know one thing about me Debra.
It's about the time where you begin to tell us your life piddy party story of how you grew up in a card board box as a child, and wore the same clothes for weeks, Only to rise to the top to concur the world.
well... we could count the VR5 B5 passat if we wanted to get technical.
Well that could be up for debate.
Back on topic.
4g63 in a B5.... should be good for 700whp when all said and done, which is fairly close. That picture is not recent, as the car is finishing up and getting wired for AEM.

heyy Sally i'll drop this 4 cyl to swap another 4 cyl..YAYYY
Except the EVO motor is arguably much better than the 1.8, for a variety of reasons:
1) Cost
2) Availability of parts
3) Availability of tuning
4) Displacement
You don't see a whole lot of A4's making the power we are trying to make.

srsly guys, what effects does this really have on you? does it make your car slower? does it make you look stupid? no. so shut the fuck up and be enthusiests for once.
i don't know about you guys, but i've always wondered about all the different motor swaps available/possible for the B5/6 chassis. the VR was just he beginning and you guys are in denial if you don't think that the swap options are not going to get more broad.
in for results derek! any more pics of the finished product? and why only 700whp? 900-1000whp seems like the standard in the 4g63 these days

#1 1.8T needs the following to be 600whp+ capable... Rods, exhaust valves, valve springs, AEB head, cams. That's it. Really not too expensive. Plus any cost from the swap including bellhousing adapter, custom clutch/flyhweel, ect makes the swap not effective from a cost standpoint to begin with...
#2 1.8T parts are readily available, not an issue there...
#3 You are running AEM, you can tune anything on AEM so the availability of tuning doesn't apply here
#4 You win, hands down. 1.8T's have a long stroke to begin with
Summary, 1.8T's are great little engines, very underrated and misunderstood...

For 600, but what about going beyond that... with regards to parts, I was speaking more on the range of parts. The 4g63 seems to have more options.

Even though I do think DEB can be an ass sometimes on the interwebs, well most of the time , however I think this swap looks cool, always good to see something different.
Subcribed to see how it gets done and what results it yields.
Brian (Haenszel20v) made over 650whp on the setup I just said. Notice the 600whp+
It takes a bit more boost but they make the numbers. I have contemplated using a bare bones basic setup like I described, on my 700whp 1.8T project. Just to prove that they are great motors, because they really are!

You just don't see that many high HP 1.8's. High HP 4g63s are a dime a dozen.

Well that doesn't make them better though...
4g63 have been in tuner friendly/high volume cars for over 20 years. 1.8T's have been in complicated ecu/higher priced/lower volume cars for half of that. Regardless, the quote above doesn't mean much, you don't see dime a dozen 700whp 2JZ's either but it's a great motor still.
