phoenix drive Dec 12th
Vivid has moved the free dyno date (not a date with a dinosaur).
as the title states, for Dec. 12th we discussed making a move to cottonwood (reverse), totilla flats, or other. Post suggestions here:
1. android S4 - cottonwood (reverse)
2.
3.
4.
P.S. I will e-mail projectA3 so he does not feel left out this time!

Re: phoenix drive Dec 12th
I'd love to do the Cottonwood run again, we had a great time last month.
Details:
Starting Time/Location: 9 AM SHARP at I-17 and Carefree HWY in North Phoenix in the large parking lot in front of the grocery store between McDonalds and the bank: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...09645&t=h&z=17 This is pretty far north, so be ready to wake up early on a Saturday for this run. Doing this same route last time, we didn't get back into Phoenix until around 5PM, so an early start is definitely a must as this is a full day drive!
Caravan from Tempe Marketplace to Carefree/I-17 Starting Point (Optional, for Tempe area ppl): Departs 8AM Sharp from Shell/Dannys at Tempe Marketplace. Please don't be late!
The Route: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...5e462078f1e030
Download it here to print-out: http://nickscarblog.com/wp-content/u...onwood-Run.jpg
Leader: We need volunteers - we can discuss this at the starting point, I don't mind leading for a while since I now have a really good GPS system (Droid with Google Maps Navigation FTW). Now that a handful of us have done this recently, I think we'll much more easily avoid getting lost (even with my record, haha)
Supplies: if you have it, bring: a copy of the map!, GPS, two way radio, radar detector. I'll bring all of my tools and a mini jack, just in case. Came in handy last time!
Ground Rules: This is going to be a relatively low key run. We're not going to be speeding or doing anything crazy. We can discuss this at the starting point further, but I think we want good clean fun with safety in mind - it would suck if someone got in an accident or injured. If people want to go fast, we'll put them toward the front of the group - there are definitely ways to arrange it the caravan so people can go different paces and we can all stay together.
Official Roll Call:

Re: phoenix drive Dec 12th
Okay I updated the route in my Google Maps, sounds like we are all in agreement that we'll do the same run but in reverse order, starting North on the I-17 to Cottonwood and ending in Wickenburg. I like the idea of lunch in Jerome although I think we'll all be itching to get to the twisties, as the drive up to Jerome will be pretty uneventful...in which case we can grab some chow at that Pizza Hut in Prescott maybe, or keep going and find something in Wickenburg (the dollar store? lol). To be honest I think my favorite stretch was the part between Wilhoit and Prescott, so I'd rather have more time to double back and hit that a second time? I dont think there was any food options in Wilhoit though.

sick to see everyone doing it again. Got my new MAF sensor installed today. only drove about 4 miles with it, so the ECU is still adapting I think, but it feels a LOT stronger, which is good news!

Re: phoenix drive Dec 12th
Last one we were on was about 8 hours with all the driving, stopping and messing around. I wouldn't suggest a little one especially with all the twisties. That'd definitely be hit or miss for entertainment.
Guess I better get these drives in myself before the offspring arrives.

Re: phoenix drive Dec 12th
bump. Does anyone have some two-way radios? Cell phone service is dead throughout most of the run, it would be great to give one to the group leader, one to the person in back, and maybe one to the person second in lead...
Sophia said they are pretty cheap at Costco, maybe we'll just buy some if no one has any lying around. I think its like $40 per set, so if anyone wants to chip in we can maybe get two sets and have four total...I'm cool with putting down $20 for one.
Jung - I still have your scanner. Remind me to return it to you tonight so you can charge it before the run on the 12th...
Phil - I still have your cargo net. I'll return it next time I see you, its also in my car...
Thanks to ProjectA3 (Brian) for sending this out to the Audi Club of North America mailing list - would love to see some new faces! here are some pics from the last run: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=323771

Re: phoenix drive Dec 12th
I'm going to pick up a set of these tomorrow: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Cobra+-+...=1218058779917
Funny you posted that just now Matt, as I've been researching 2 ways for over the past hour or so, haha. I picked out a set on Amazon with free shipping, which were supposedly "In Stock", but then after I purchased it said they wouldn't ship out until the 15th, and arrive around the 22nd, which won't work. I'm not sure why it would take a week to ship out something that is in stock?
The one above is in stock at the Best Buy at Scottsdale and Shea, they have good reviews and awesome range so I'm going to go for it.
Do you think we need a second set? If so, anyone want to pick up the second set, or want me to pick them up a set and pay me back?

That'd be awesome. Are you talking about the 1 series "Battleship"? I haven't seen that in person yet, it looks awesome in pictures though.
If Vivid wants to "sponsor" this, I'm sure we'd all be down to put some vivid stickers on our cars or wear a vividracing t-shirt something, could be a cool photo-op or blog post for you guys And if not obviously cool too, the more the merrier, even if your car does have a Bangle butt
