Its about time I start my build thread. Ive been procrastinating enough.

How it all started:

Passenger side headlight went out after hitting a small pothole.

K04s only lasted about 1 day in my head before I changed plans to rs6s. Then the big "tial 605" thread and "which way to 500whp" thread convinced me to go with the tial 605s.

That's funny...those threads make me want to cut my fingers off and stab my eyes out.

I love how a headlight replacement turned into a stage 3 build. haha

I just got my rotating assembly back from the machine shop yesterday. Before I put it back in the block I want to take off some of the old flaky paint and repaint it.

I still have to port one of my exhaust manifolds and clean up one more head.

Im hoping to get the turbos next week from EPL. Supposedly there has been a delay on Johnny Bravo's side.

Im hoping to have the motor back in the car by the end of november. I still have to do custom piping to my front mount so it will probably take another week to actually get the car running.

How is yours coming along? Shop get to it yet?

Well I just got my tracking into today for the turbos so I should have those next week. They were supposed to ship out last week, but that didn't happen. I've just about got all my parts and I'll be taking it in to get everything installed w/in a week or two and I'm hoping to be up and running by the first week or two of December.

I decided to go w/ Vast for my tune and I'm going w/ a 91 tune w/o meth and also an e85 tune as well. Vast shipped out my fueling and tune and other misc items yesterday!

Mine were supposed to get to EPL last week as well. Tony @ epl told me some guy at TiaL who did the packaging for the Tial kits was out sick and thats what caused the delay. Im going to call tony tomorrow and see if mine shipped out.

Looks like we should be done at the same time.

Are you doing a mail order tune with VAST or you driving up to get custom tuned? E85 should be nuts. I wish I could do it but in my area there is no E85.

I just my rotating assembly back from balancing. JHM's website said its not necessary but if you've got the funds to require rods then you've got the funds to balance everything.

Im heading out to the man cave in a bit so I'll take some shots of where they drilled the crank.

I was going to get them ceramic coated but I started reading somewhere that the process to coat manifolds actually weakens them a bit. Acutally I think one place I read it was in somebody elses build thread. Given that I took alot of meat out I decided to just paint them with Eastwood's hi temp paint..

I rolled across that thread before. I know that my stock intake will be the new bottle neck with 2.8 heads. Given that I can do it with the engine in the car, down the road, when my wallet recuperates I'll get the rs4 intake and tb. For the time being I'll just port the hell out of my stocker. Thanks for the link though. Good reference for everybody else reading..

Im working as fast as I can while still being careful because I only have two single car garages and I have a 69 camaro in one and the other is a work area. 69 camaro beat 02 s4 for garage rights anyday which means s4 is outside in the cold. I want to get the motor back in as fast as I can b4 it gets too cold to work outside.

As for the rs4 intake.. if youve got the funds do it now along with the TB, but if you read my above post, my wallet is kinda dry and since I can bolt on an rs4 intake and TB later with the engine in the car... thats what Im going to do.

Here are some pictures after painting the block, doing a light hone on the bores and cleaning up the deck.

Usually I use VHT or Duplicolor on my american v8s but Ive heard good things about Eastwoods Hi Temp Engine paint. You can brush it on, its dries glossy and its pretty durable. I was going to go for black but when I was ordering, black was backordered 2+ weeks so I did a quick search on their site for another color I could use. I didnt want to go silver because the majority of the rest of the motor is silver and there would be no contrast. I saw Dark Gr on their website thinking it was dark gray because it looked almost black. When I popped the can it turned out to be Ford Dark Green. I think I can say with 100% certainty that Im the only one with a green s4 block.
