Angry How do you remove the immobilizer from an 2002 b6 remote fob??

Hello, I just purchased a brand new fob "shell" (no electronics inside) for my B6 since mine is in poor condition. Of course I need to open the old fob, remove the circuit board and put it on the new shell and then I have to do the same with the immobilizer, right?

As far as I know once the fob is opened in two pices , the immo is located on the side with the audi logo and the metal key.

How the hell do you take that piece apart to get to the immo itself???

    Thanks for your suggestions!!

Find the B6 to B7 FOB mod, the instructions on how to take the immobilizer are there. The key blade is where it is, so you have to move the blade from your old shell to your new one.

This should be roughly the same setup as the B6 remote: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2293184

Very carefully. The transponder capsule is in the part of the Fob that is glued together. Once the case is separated, then the glass capsule must be gently fussed out without breaking it.

Heat the immobilizer capsule with a heatgun. Worked like an absolute charm for me. the capsule just slid right out

Re: How do you remove the immobilizer from an 2002 b6 remote fob??

Some B6 Audi keys have a screw as well. My 05 did while my 04 didn't.

To get the immo chip out, use a small pointed driver and pick away at the glue on the side of the immo chip. I never had a problem with the ten or so immo chips I installed into B7 keys. Some are glued while some are just sitting of a little piece of foam or rubber... weird technique those Germans... lol

post a pic if you could I will tell you if it looks just like the way I took my chips out. Don't heat it too hot with a heat gun, you may ruin the chip..
