Looks great cW Similar to the drop on the wife's B6 with sport suspension (which now looks even better with my 18" hyper V708's on her Dolphin Grey).

Had a thought last night - now that you have xenon-match fogs back in, why not try the Lamin-X yellow tint film again with them?

I may have missed the answer, but why didn't you go the yellow bulbs to begin with? I installed mine about a week ago and you cannot tell they are yellow when off.

I just read through this post and I like what you're doing. You may have a tough break in period with the new alarm system. You may encounter a few unexpected leaks and possibly larger deposits on occasion during the few months of use but you'll be happy after that.

I had a similar alarm system in my old GTI and it left a deposit for me in the trunk once. It made for a long stinky ride home from the park.

Thanks for the link. I have a similar alarm system, but I have a backup though (2 yellow labs). They love car rides to the park, and this cover looks really nice, especially for longer rides home from the beach, when they get all wet.

So my car is going in for engine rebuild next week all under warranty due to oil consumption.
The piston rings and maybe pistons will be replaced. Carbon buildup will be cleaned up also.
No idea how it will turn-out....

So I decided to do a couple runs just for old times sake.

Since I was holding the camera in one hand, it was hard to go all out 100%.
Didn't attempt to use launch control. So probrably a split second of switching from brakes to accelerator.
Anyway, both of these were close to WOT all the way merging onto expressway.
0-60 from stop - In the 5's.


10-60 rolling - In the 4's I think. Sorry for the Katy Perry at the end. Touching the volume button on the steering wheel switched radio back on.


Will hopefully have something now to compare when the engine is rebuilt.

my dad has a Q5 and its pretty nice, ive driven it around a few times before and the only real problem with them is that, they have a weird "pull" feeling to them when you accelerate

I had forgotten how comfortable the A4 with 4x4 ride height and comfort shocks felt.
The 8 speed transmission is nice and smooth. Though the MPG is about the same as my 6 speed.
I guess an inch or two higher on the loaner and it might as well be a Q5.

That looks sick! I have the exact same setup black on black. I just got the quad tip apr exhaust on and looks great! USE TURTLE WAX BLAK BOX! It's insane the difference . I still have the halogen headlights where did you get your xenon from? Oemplus?

Got ecodes shipped from Germany thru ebay purchase.
You should talk to "lowestA4" Jens on this forum.
He can get you everything you need for ~$1050.00 or so.

I use blackbox also and it works well.
Will do a full detail once my car is back from the shop.

It's a $20 detailing kit for Black cars.
The wax is tinted black to better hide swirl marks and other paint imperfections.
It lasts about about as long as regular wax, but it really works for us BB owners!

I plan on modding mine a bit and since you have done everything I want to do I thought I'd ask you a question. I want to get new bulbs for my fogs, what do you think isbetter, the HIDs or Hoen Xenon match,even though I dont have Xenons( i plan on getting them when I can find ecodes).Thanx!

You will have to pay ~$150 or so for a nice kit that will be problem free.
You'll have to mount the ballasts and error cancelers in your engine bay also.
Checkout the Blesk kit at hidconcept.com.

I am waiting for them to make a LED fog bulb that is error-free and super bright.

They are a 90% match. I guess there is variation in Hoen manufacturing also.
Some folks have said they are slightly yellow and other slightly blue.
My set is yellower than my Xenons.

So if you want it to be perfect, you'll need HIDs.

Called dealer today.
Car has yet to be serviced as they are backed up.
I'm guessing they have quite a few of these engine rebuilds happening....

Can't complain about the A4 loaner and comfort shocks.
It's so damn comfortable.

I can see why people would pay the extra $$$ for comfort coilovers.

In actuality, the Premiums do have the trip computer installed, they are just disabled via programming. This can be turned on via use of some specialized software, e.g. VAG Com.

Hey cw,

How are the gloss fog grilles holding up? I am considering doing the same thing, but was wondering whether it would be worth it to add a top layer or two of clear.

Are you still rocking the xenon match fogs? I am looking into those as well, are those a simple plug and play to change the bulbs, or is anything else involved? FWIW, I think they look a lot better than the yellow ones.

The fog grilles are holding up fine. I do not recommend you add any clearcoat unless it is automotive grade. I put clear on my fog rings and the salt during the winter has worn that down to the cbrome. The glossy black though has been good and could use some polishing after this winter.

The hoens are straight plug and play.

As for the fog lights, what didn't you like about the phillips that made you decide to do the hoens? It's really difficult to tell from the pictures which is a closer match. Were the phillips too blue?
