$45K - RS4 or S5

My buddy is looking for a new car and asked what I'd rather have, an RS4 or S5 and I'm torn. He wants to spend up to $45K and threw the Range Rover Sport Supercharged out there. I can't let him get that. What do you think? S5, RS4 or something I'm missing?

I agree. I think it's up there as one of the sexiest coupes.

Doesn't matter. Has a vette now and the lease is up. Wants something he can drive year round in Detroit. Wants something fast and nice. Wish I had $45k to burn!

if hes coming from a vette, s5 for sure. he still has the sporty coupe appeal, with a SHIT TON of class. plus quattro for the winter, hes good to go

Going from a Vette to a 4.2 will be a dissapointment. RS4s put down 320awhp with essentially no room for affordable/reliable improvement.

S5 for sure....I think that is going to be my next purchase...as soon as they start to come off lease in a few years

They are both amazing cars, I think it does boil down to 4 or 2 doors also transmission. Does the S5 come in manual, I don't think so, still awesome none the less. There is always and S6 too certified pre-owned in that range, I was looking at them today on line.

s5 is available in both... A5 is the one you cant get the 3.2 in Manual anymore

s5. i was just at a dealer getting serviced and checked out both a5 and s5. s5 seats are way nicer. interior is superb. although after playing around for 5 min or so i found navi/radio control knob very annoying.

as much as I love the RS4, you gotta go with the S5. that car is amazing

S5, 354 horse and all wheel drive, you can't ever go wrong!!! Besides, with upgrades later on, supercharger... he'd be off the chain

RS4 no doubt... put a tubi exhaust on that thing and everything is complete.

the rs4 is way faster with 420bhp, but since the guy is used to an asthetics on a car, then s5 for sure.
