How to reprogram (synch, match) a new Remote Key (FOB) control

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
One of my remotes lost it's prgramation suddenly

The battery is OK (tested), but it will not lock / unlock the doors anymore (it does start the engine, it's just lost the "remote" key function)

1- How can I re-program my remote FOB

2- What could have been the reason for a sudden deprogramation ??

    Thanks

[EDIT] Now the SECOND remote is not working (not locking / unlocking the doors, but starting the engine)

    NOW I AM CONFUSED (???)
    What's going on ???

Re: How to reprograma new Remote Key (FOB)

    Found it...

    http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?p=14741675

I'm pissed though because there is a way to do this using only 1 key. (I MAY have found it).

Turn on the car to accessories
Let it sit for 10 seconds
Turn car off and get out with the key
    Manually lock the car door
    Press lock on the key
Now manually unlock the car door
    Press unlock on the fob

Re: How to reprograma new Remote Key (FOB)

Almost all of the new keys are programmed with dealer scan tools. Check with the dealer you bought the car from, they should reprogram them for you for free. At least my dealership does. The older keys you could program them just by turning the ignition on, then pressing the unlock button and it "wakes" up the remote.

Re: How to reprograma new Remote Key (FOB)

    GOT IT !!

After testing thousands of methods, I finally re-codded both remotes today.
Not sure about what I did or how to describe it, I still don't believe it was so simple !! or I may be omitting something ?? the fact is BOTH REMOTES are WORKING !!

    1- VAG-COM
    46 - Cent. Conv.
    Adaptation - 10
Channel "00" -> "test" -> "save" (to reset factory defaults)

    2- Matching (synch)
Put spare (platic) key in ignition (the one in the glove box)
Push to turn ON (not engine start, just push to "on" position)
Press one button on each remote
    Start engine
Stop engine and remove spare key
    Test remotes

I have made so many tests -with & without VAG-COM- that now I can not assure this is the 100% correct way I reprogrammed my remotes

Anyway, I wanted to let you all know I finally got my remotes programmed
The procedure still needs to be duplicated by other users to be confirmed

Re: How to reprograma new Remote Key (FOB)

I though the only way to do it would be to use specialized RFID tools that only the dealer or eager people will have. Kinda scary that it can figured out by a person in their garage with vagcom.

    Is this confirmed?

The 'old' procedure was without VCDS (see my earlier post)

Yup..my sales guy said that the new key fobs will deprogram themselves after 90 days or so and if it happens, bring it in and we'll reprogram it for you. So guys, in a nutshell, to save yourself of this 'hassle' make sure you use each remote once a month to keep 'em all alive.

Thanks gtrab for figuring out how to reprogram them though. +1 rep

Re: How to reprograma new Remote Key (FOB)

    Please remember:
It has to be REPLICATED by others before we can CONFIRM it and spread the word

My first thought was "OK, now let's delete the programmation and re-program again to re-confirm the method",
but I'm so bloody annoyed after all this trial and error

It would be great if somebody with a new remote could confirm or bust this

I don't buy that. And I certainly hope that your dealer is incorrect, as that would just be ridiculous. I'm sure if the key needed to be used every 90 days to ensure it maintains programming it would state so in the manual.

I didn't buy it initially either, but since someone here just experienced it, that was the only piece in the puzzle that fit..

But since both of his stopped working I doubt it was related to neither being used for 90 days.
