The "NEW" Audi Logo

Just came across this...

Now likely to become part of the Auto Union brand - which will also include Volkswagen, Porsche, Skoda, Seat – Audi has mildly revised its famous four-ring logo. Ironically, the four-ring logo once applied only to Auto Union well before Audi was swallowed up by the Volkswagen Group.

The new logo is ever so slightly different from its predecessors, benefiting from a more three-dimensional, chrome-like appearance, and Audi has officially revised its font to a more standardized sans-sarif style placed either below or adjacent to the four rings.

Audi’s new logo appears more photographic than the old design despite apparently keeping the same dimensions throughout.

Rings are fine, text not sure. The white space between the letters given the width of the letters don't look right to me.

I like the rings. The old font is better its how i would recognize Audi if it was by font only

One thing for sure, the slant in the A and d in the logo that we've come to known, breaks the ties to the original logo from way back when, which also had that slant.

LOL. It's not just the car but everything else that people see in advertisements. You see the rings and Audi logo on all of their TV spots, print media, magazines, etc. it's everywhere, but yes, it's not on the cars, but it still plays a critical role in their corporate identity/branding.

EDIT: I think MB is similar with respect to this, only their three-pronged star logo is used on their cars, but the full "Mercedes Benz" used elsewhere, I think it's even used on their racing cars.
