I had these in my vdub, can't stand the OEM ones ever since I bought the B7.

This is a great price but my OEM's are auto-dimming, can I still use these? I know the blue tint is equivalent to auto-dimming but will it be a problem using these in an auto-dimming car?

The blue tint does a fine job at removing glare and high beams from the back, so the auto-dimming is not needed but I just want to make sure that by not having the feature will not trigger a warning light or cause problems with the auto-dimming rear view mirror!

To those who can use these w/o the above question answered, these mirrors are incredible, once you have them, going to a car w/o them is a huge dissapointment, these are a must have!

^^^ I cannot answer you for sure but look at your rear view mirror and see if you have a small led and a button at the bottom of it, that is to turn on/off the auto-dimming, if you do not have this led/button, then it should be safe to say that you do not have this feature.

The led/button on the bottom of the r.v. mirror is common on other brand name vehicles as well, since I also have this on my 2003 Ford Explorer.

I am talking about the side view mirrors on driver and passenger side. not sure if they are heated and auto-dimming. my guess its neither for b6 s4s

Heated and auto-dimming are two different things. It's more common to have just the heated mirrors.

If they are heated, there is either a separate dial/switch (maybe on your side mirror control stick) or they come on with your rear defrost.

Auto-dimming is usually tied in with your rear view mirror, so all 3 mirrors autodim at once.

Hope this helps narrow it down.

thanks for the clarification. I'll check it out tonite. I know I do have the button under the rear view mirror so it could possibly be controlling the side mirrors also.

I'd also be willing to try one out. I'll even create a nice DIY thread to show how to install these if that would help. I've done several DIY threads and am VERY detailed (you can see my page here, linked from Bimmerforums, starting on Page 4: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/481432 ). I've got a 2005.5 B7 S4 and am located in Los Angeles, CA.
