I heard something interesting regarding the remote windows. I was talking to my buddy working for VW dealership (technician), he said if I recode and activates remote windows, the jam protection will be disabled. (That's if your finger or something was caught when the windows are rolling up, it will not roll down automatically).
Can anyone confirm this? (I don't know if anyone dares to try this)

Fog light question for 08 S4 DTM... The dtm's don't come with fogs (this vag-com thing is new to me) but if I run my parking lights (ambers) there are little lights close to the drl's that also come on. Are these little lights referred to as "city lights" if so, is it possible to make adjustments to run only the "city lights". A better question might be what are the various lighting combinations (front) for the fogless dtm's?

thanks guys, Joey, nice piece brother!
First of all, yes those little lights are city lights. I have 07 S4 non DTM but I did the independent fog recode and only the city light comes on without the signal ambers, same when you turn on your xenon, the city light and xenon comes on without amber.

Re: B6/B7 S4 DIY: VAG-COM Modification Walk Through
So I was trying to turn off the seat belt chime last night. When I was in the coding section it says it has to be in 7 digits so it won't let me change the value under software coding box. Any ideas?

do you have the latest version of vcds? there is a helpful popup notification with instructions of how to change the values.
each number represents a setting, so rather than adding/subtracting bits like in other sections, only change the number of the setting you want.
its also a good idea to copy+paste the existing setting and save it into a text file before making changes.

question: there is a small bulb on the innermost headlights that seems to turn on with the headlights or fogs. any idea how to turn these off? i have the drls off, which i hoped would turn these little lights of as well, however they're still on.

Turn signal bulbs? They can be turned off, but not via vag-com. You need to run resistors to accomplish this. I had the resistors ready to put in, but i cant now because of the accident.

Yeah, sounds like the city lights. Your best bet is to just swap them out for something more "white" so that it'll match your low beams. That's what I did.
Re: B6/B7 S4 DIY: VAG-COM Modification Walk Through
Turn signal amber you can turn off through VAG COM (refer to independent fog light setting on page 1) but not city lights. I have LED city lights or for a cheaper solution go hoen. Hoen city lights match with factory xenons well but they do get hot and they will burn the head light assembly over time. Other than that there is no complains.

get into the coding for the instrument cluster and change the 5th digit (from the left) to 0. most of this stuff can be found on http://wiki.ross-tech.com
Re: B6/B7 S4 DIY: VAG-COM Modification Walk Through
ive tried for the life of my to get my 2004 B6 S4's amber front turn signal bulbs to turn off while low beams are on via vag com with no luck. i put the code to 01011 and it successfully enabled the fogs to be on while the high beams are on as specified, but the amber signals are still on when the low beams are on. any suggestions? the orange is killing me.

Joey, one thing to add for the RS4... it has two ECUs and many will be puzzled how to read codes for ECU2.
From the Select Control Module page, select the chassis tab and enter 11 in the Direct Entry box and Go! This will take you into ECU2 to check out and clear those misfire codes ;)
edit Yeah I know the title is S4 :)

Joey, for the RNS-E on the cluster display, do you have any info on the reason why it takes up to 24 hours for it to work? I added the code correctly so I'm just waiting, but it just seems odd to have to wait for electronics to function. Thank you.
Thanks on a great write up as well, it works like a charm with my A4 as well!

I believe it takes time to cycle through the CAN-BUS system.
Re: B6/B7 S4 DIY: VAG-COM Modification Walk Through
Joey, in your 1st post you showed how to do a "Service Interval Reset". Seems simple enough but the version of the software I have doesn't have that tab.... Do you have the full version? or what version are you using?
