Lease Turn-In Inspection
Need some feedback from those who have done this. Car is in immaculate shape but for one tiny "ding" in one of the doors. Simple case of someone opening their door into mine. No paint removed, just a true "ding". It's about the size of a silver dollar, plus or minus. There is also some very minor, normal wear and tear on the back bumper, but nothing significant at all.
Anyone have any idea if they'll charge me for that? Any other helpful tips or guidance would be appreciated.

they shouldn't charge you anything for a door ding.. There is a chart on line somewhere that shows how they calculate damage..

Here is the Wear and Use policy page for lease returns.
If the main ding is larger than a quarter, you will unfortunately be charged. Since you say yours is the size of what i assume you mean a silver dollar, you will need to have this repaired somehow
I would suggest have one of them mobile ding repair guys give you a quote to at least make it better. Probably looking at around $100 that way versus $$$ Hundreds more from the AoA.

Re: Lease Turn-In Inspection
Contact Audi Financial Services and they'll give you the contact information to arrange a vehicle inspection. It's provided by a third party and my experience with them was excellent. They came to my workplace and did a full inspection in about 10-15 minutes. The rep notated any issues and gave exact fees. I had the option to return the car in that state and incur the known fees, or have the car repaired on my own and then re-inspected. The inspections are free, so I'm of the opinion that you're best off finding out FIRST what the fees will be if you leave it be. In my case, there was damage that the rep called "normal wear and tear" and there was some wear and tear that they considered damage. Overall their repair prices were about 1/2 the going rate locally, so I was pleased.

That's a good suggestion - we'll have to see, my "ding" is +/- the size of a quarter, upon a recent glance. I guess it's going to be a judgment call on his part.

Nevermind, I see the S4 coming soon in your signature! Any updated ETA on that? I bet August is dragggging along...

Re: Lease Turn-In Inspection
It left Germany today - arrives in Rhode Island on 8/19 and at the dealership sometime early in the week of 8/24. I'm headed on vacation 8/25 and back on 8/30. I'm going to be able to turn in my A4 before leaving for vacation and avoid having to make an August payment. Then scheduled to take delivery of the S4, officially, on Monday 8/31.
Strangely, I'm not looking at my calendar everyday to see how close 8/31 is. Really just enjoying the last few weeks with the A4 - such a great car.

Congrats. I must say, as much as I liked my B7, it quickly faded from my heart once we got the B8. It's just that much better. Now as good as the new platform is with the 2.0T...the S4 with the supercharged 3.0 is just going to be stunning.

Re: Lease Turn-In Inspection
I had my lease turn in inspection today, and I am not very happy. I park in a garage in manhattan, and the cars are packed in like sardines so there are a few superficial dents. There are approximately 6 very minor dings less than dime size in diameter, a small scratch on the rear bumper, and a scratch on the driver's door. The inspector classified the bumper scratch as a "gouge" = $255. I have no problem with them charging me for the door scratch, but he charged me for at least 4 of the minor dings as well. Total = $850! Interestingly, they didn't charge me for two tires with major bubbling on the side wall, or for two dinged rims. Oh well, my s4 will come in a couple of weeks, and then I'll forget all about this!

Wow, they're usually quite strict on the tires and wheels as well.

Re: Lease Turn-In Inspection
Had my inspection-- and thankfully, no problems. My 'ding' was a non-issue... the guy couldn't believe the condition the car was in-- 36,000 mi and in the city (though in a self-park garage). Took about 30 mins and he was done!
8-31-09 ..... how long are the next 2 weeks going to feel like? 3 years? 4?
