Tracking the B7 is a weird sensation, The front end is so heavy and sticks out so far, its like riding a fat chick in zero gravity. Its fun at first but eventually the weight will throw you around.
haha i think i should mod mine a little a put it out there and see what happens... i mean i can imagine it being fun, but I'm not sure how well it would actually do
Re: How many people here actually drive/track their car or another car?
Tracking the car isnt so much about how well it does, its about how well you are in sync with your car. Some cars will be faster, some cars will be slower, but if you want driver skill both drivers would have to be in the same car, driving the same car.
The REAL track experience, is about focusing on your driving with the car, manipulating it to drive in a sort of dance. Being able to hit the apex, and read the cars reaction.

Re: How many people here actually drive/track their car or another car?
I've autocrossed with my Audi and have had a lot of fun. Sure, I might not put up the best times or win my class, but I'm not aiming for that; my goal for every run is to try and improve on my previous time.
I hope to autocross more in the future and perhaps do some hpdes some time. Maybe later do some time attack or track days.

Great. I get lots of compliments from other drivers when I pull in the pits on how my RS4, or S4, does so good. Then I proceed to tell them that it's a 3900lbs A4 with 190AWHP and they shit their pants.
All I need left to do to it is to: finish my brake ducting project, go BT with big I/C, and figure a way to make an auto tranny have a 4:1 rear bias diff. I'm thinking this will shave another 3-5 seconds off the old lap times and make it one of the fastest streetable 4 door sedans out on the track.
Re: How many people here actually drive/track their car or another car?
autoX'ing monthly for the past 18 months.
initially ran it with G35 coupe, but A4 after upgrading it (chip, RS4 RSB, lighter wheels, sticky tires).
both cars are much heavier than most other cars at the autoX and I wish they were at around 3200 lbs.
but I'm typically right behind the times that STi's and other "more-performance-oriented" cars put up, so I'm fairly happy with my cars.
I've recently started to consider buying a dedicated car for autoX, i.e. a used '01-'02 Miata with some mods, but will need to let go of one of my cars beforehand.

Definitely recommend getting out of the Land of the Sick and Murdered Out and onto a track to learn your car and its responses and limits.
Getting the A4 more track ready in case I can talk the wife onto the track, but last track / drivers schools / autoX experiences have all been in my TT, which has been awesome. Looking to explore PIR and the new Oregon Raceway after our move.

i agree with this... just in comparison so the cars i have the ability to drive on the track i don't think it would fair well... being mostly stock, i know the brakes would be shot for sure... the 997S brakes weren't able to hold up stock for what we put it through... no way the A4 brakes last
Re: How many people here actually drive/track their car or another car?
I think you need to ask yourself what you truly want out of it as well. For me, I wanted to race, hence I went the Go-Kart route. If you want to race, look into your local SCCA. What are people running? What has the biggest class (traditionally Miata)? What class will allow you to learn to race and how to work on your car without breaking your bank?
If you just want to learn to drive better, well HPDE and track days are awesome. If you are competitive and want to autocross, same as above with classes or just run your car and try to improve yourself as a driver.
Re: How many people here actually drive/track their car or another car?
altho i have done autox and the drag strip with my a4, it is not suited for either purpose. it is a fantastic daily driver tho. my 911 is much lighter and a completely different experience but constant problems with it has kept me from pushing it hard anywhere and so it has not seen the track altho it would be much better suited for it.
