Clip the vice-grips on teh pin, then wiggle it back and forth to move the pin a bit while you tap the vice-grips with a hammer. That will eventually move the pin out of the hinge. Keep at it, it will work.

My glovebox is broken too. Tried to PM "PCYC" but I got an error message that his inbox was full. Anyone know if he's still in the business?

Did this today with a $3 bracket from Home Depot, pretty sure that's all that bracket was that Pcyc was selling.

Can you provide a part or item number from Home Depot? I think folks would very much appreciate it.

Sure I'll post a couple picks too.

My finished product does not look as snazzy but it's a hinge In a glove box so I'm ok with it.

This is similar to the piece I used, I threw out the packaging. It can be found in the hardware isle.

No, the bracket he was selling was hand made out of sheet metal that he cut, bent and painted. Looks like you found a cheaper alternative though.

What switches on the light in the glove box? My works intermittently and my hinge is broken. Is it the wiring that connects to the piston?

Yep, when the piston extends it squeezes the contacts together and turns the light on. You can actually see the contacts in teh second picture three posts up.

The left hinge has a pin just like the right one, just clip the vice grips on it, wiggle it back and forth and tap the vice grips with a hammer to back the pin out.

Just did mine this weekend. I had a disaster but after two tries I think it's fixed.
Why would the company that uses the slogan "truth in engineering" have such a poor weak design that puts so much pressure on less than 2 square cm molded plastic?
If it breaks again I'll bite the bullet and get the part from genuineaudiparts for $180 and reinforce it prior to breakage.

What material are you using for the bracket?
I thought a 7000 series aluminum would be strong enough.
What about screws? I assume countersunk.
