Hello and welcome AZ'ers to the July installment of Audizine's Monthly Newsletter. Yet again this issue comes a bit later than usual as I've been up to my eyeballs is projects, both car related and web related. From modding the cars, to modding Audizine, to new AZ gear and the summer GTG/show season, it's been nuts. Anyway, let's get to it...

As we do each and every month, this newsletter thread contains a rundown of the latest Industry and Motorsport News since our last installment, as well as details on the current month's Featured AZ'er. Again we also have our Monthly Audizine Poll where we ask you guys n' gals your thoughts on a particular topic, and we end the newsletter with our usual thank you to the companies recently joining or returning to our family of Official Audizine Advertisers.

I also wanted to give another thank you to everyone that has participated in recent Audizine related events such this year's Waterfest show, the Audizine Baseball Hat pre-sale special (which, by the way, we still have a few left for sale in the Audizine Store), and the 2009 Audizine Photo Contest. These were all big successes thanks to you! Next up we'll have our first-ever Audizine Wall Poster so stay tuned for details on that, and there are a number of other big Audi/VW shows and get-togethers in the coming weeks - so get out there and enjoy the weather and the company of other AZ'ers and automotive enthusiasts!

Looks can be deceiving. Yes we've heard the cliche before, maybe even right here once or twice already, but it's true you really can't judge a book by its cover. There are also several words to describe something (or someone even) that looks one way but is in fact quite different underneath; the most common words when related to vehicles would probably be "stealth" or "sleeper". These are both good words to describe this month's Featured AZ'er but many others come to mind as well; "unassuming", "simple", "clean", "OEM +", and to some maybe even "stock". Even to a self-proclaimed Audi enthusiast, the vehicle may at first glance appear somewhat stock. But they'd be wrong, very wrong. If you knew or saw what Vincent's (AKA: vinny.dtw) A4 started out looking like, and you compared it with what's here today, then like us you'd have nothing but respect and admiration for his project. This year's Goodwood Festival of Speed saw an amazing gathering of classic Audi racecars from years past, as well as a few of the newer "instant classics" from today, and it got me thinking...which one of these beasts would be the biggest blast to take around a track? It's a tough choice no doubt, but let's see what Audizine thinks. If you could only choose one, which of these racing icons would you most want to get behind the wheel of?

Ultra-Economical Audi A4 TDI gets the 'E' Treatment

From this week the Audi A4 earns the right to use the 'e' suffix that subtly signifies major strides forward in economy and emissions control as already proven by the Audi A3 1.9 TDIe and the A6 2.0 TDIe. Available exclusively in saloon form, the new A4 2.0 TDIe joins the range alongside the three existing, and continuing, 2.0-liter TDI variants, and employs the very latest efficiency measures to make 61.4mpg and 120g/km CO2 output a reality. Now open for order in Europe, the latest Audi 'e' model will reach its first European customers in October. More

Vast 35-Meter Audi 'Monument' takes Center Stage at Goodwood

Every year since 1997, Lord March has surprised us all with ever more vast and spectacular centerpieces for the Festival of Speed at his home, Goodwood House in West Sussex. For 2009 the latest sculptural 'monument' will be unveiled for the start of the three day Festival (3 to 5 July), which is likely to entertain a record number of 130,000 visitors for this year. More

Audi driver Ekström shines with recovery

Ingolstadt/Zandvoort - In front of 38,000 spectators (throughout the weekend) Audi driver Mattias Ekström showed why he is regarded as the "King of Zandvoort": With an impressive recovery, the Swede fought his way forward from position nine on the grid to second place at the fourth round of the DTM. In the end, the two-time DTM Champion was just short of 1.431 seconds from achieving his fourth Zandvoort triumph. More
