There are actually two more threads on BITOG that go more in depth about Biosyn oil formulation and extensive tests/results performed on the RS4 engine.

I am currently running on RLI for 1.5k miles. So far so good. In the summer castrol would be knocked out at 1-2k under spirited driving and it would stink like fuel. No such signs with RLI, engine seems happy and responsive and not a hint of fuel scent.

If I were you I would extract an oil sample and send it over to Terry for analysis. I am sure you have already formed your opinion on which oil to use.

    Enjoy your car!
    Thanks for the warm welcome.

Yes, I read those as well (or at least one of them), interesting stuff. I figured the link I posted had contained some other opinions and findings that I thought some might find useful. RLI seems to be holding up for you and others i have read about elsewhere.

Having an analysis done is key and I will certainly have one done in the very near future. I have a feeling (just a personal assumption) the OCI may have a larger impact on the buildup than I originally expected but I guess time will tell. I have to go through it myself to make a decision on whether OCI's play a large role or not.

I actually have not yet (oil choice), at least not with this car anyway. I have my choice for the AMG and the motorcycle, quad, boat etc but not the RS4. I haven't even received it yet!! I literally can't wait until Saturday to get my hands on it.

I got my RS4 back earlier today. The dealer is about two hours away from me so I got some quality time with her on the way back.

What was done to the car while it was at the dealer was:

    a)TTRS steering wheel swap.
b)55k mile service. Introduce RLI oil.
    c)Refurbish all four rims.
d)Clean the carbon build up off the intake valves.
    e)Install ported/polished manifold.
    f)BG treatment.

    Ok here are some impressions.
The car felt completely different from start up. This steering wheel is much thicker than the US RS4 model. It seems to give you better feedback and points you in the right direction with less effort. It is a lot more fun to drive in and I know understand why everyone that has the D-shaped wheel likes it. Those are my initial observations anyway, keep in mind that I have not driven my car in three weeks. In that time I was driving a 2.0t and the steering feel among everything else feels different that the RS4.

As far as the RLI oil. For those hesitant to convert over I can only share a little bit of info from the one long commute in the RS. The oil seems to come to temperature much quicker (It was a hot day here to begin with). While you are driving it will get to 245 quickly under spirited driving however cool off just about as quick down to 208. That is something the castrol did not do in my car. It took a whole lot to cool back down especially if there was more than 4k on the oil.

Now to the important stuff. The car is a different animal. Old memories and new smiles were coming in bunches as I was driving the car. The engine felt healthy and very responsive. It hit the limiter with no effort and speed came in abundance no matter which gear. It reminded me a lot of when I first bought it but the top end feels a lot stronger. After 6kRPM is where I really felt an improvement. This is where the ported/polished IM has come in to play just as expected.
I had a little run in with a e46 M3. The RS just kept pulling away strong until I was at 142 when he flashed his high beams and we both let off.

I was really impressed on how freely it went through the rev band. The car has that snap back. I had to adjust my driving style all over since I was used to the poor performance all these months.

Thats it for now. I want to go out and drive it some more just like I did the old days when I first bought it. That should sum up how different and more fun this car feels.
    Shoot questions if any...

    PS.
I will post pics of the car and steering wheel tomorrow.

Also I have to thank Tommy and the whole Winner Audi crew for staying on top of the car and making sure the cleaning and all the other jobs were done perfectly.
    Thanks guys...
I bet it feels incredible! I'm very happy for you. I got mine used so I don't even know what a new one feels like, let alone yours!

I've got a spare manifold and could port/polish it in the same manner as mine. Pm if interested.

for the port and polish? No, but we have someone we work with that can do the same thing. I am trying to get him to come in for a few other mods too

Terry Dyson is the oil analyst, he is not associated with Clint, not that I know of anyway.

I call Clint the Audiwiz. He is the man that can get you things quickly and answer any questions you have. And now he works for a great company- RAI Motorsports- which is the best fit for his knowledge/experience.

    Fouled intake

Anyway, the problem as I understand it occurs because the fuel is injected directly into the cylinder and all the intake sees is air and a little bit of oil seepage around the valves. Don't think any fuel additive will help. Audi had tried an oil addititve but it obviously hasn't been effective. I don't believe this problem is specific to the RS4 but more a symptom of direct injection. Check the bimmer forums for more examples. When fuel is sprayed into the intake on a port injection, it washes all the oil seepage through the motor. Not happening with the direct injection.
