    2001 Audi a6 2.7TT – Automatic 5 Speed

I would first like to thank http://www.vastperformance.com/ for making this possible, and for all of the support they have given me throughout the ups and downs. Thank you Prince for always running your ass off, and getting everything together in such a short period of time. Thanks for dealing with me as well haha. You know it is bad when you call Vast and you get, "Sup Sam!", other than a hello? How may I help you? :).Everything looks amazing and I hope the install goes well. I would also like to thank Mike at Vast for the tuning. He has been an awesome guy to deal with and makes crazy maps for sure :) I hope we can get this GT file ripping before Waterfest aka 1 week.Hopefully I will get to meet this crew one day, because they are a great bunch of guys and know what I am about about… SPEEED!!! OVER HYPE!!! I would also like to thank my tech Jon. Thank you all for making this happen and I hope to back it up with some numbers :D

we can't post in the build forums. they have to move them...some projects (like my own) aren't worthy of that section so they stay here.

    Re: Sams auto GT(2560) project

everyone should be allowed a build thread, regardless of how useless it is to everyone else. That way they can post all their mods in 1 thread and people can see everything done to various cars, rather then users having a new thread for rims, chip, exhaust, shift knob, boost gauge, etc.

Back on topic. Good luck with the build Sam...Get that shit up to Waterfest!! We'll get videos of racing some stage 3s, possibly Rs6d s4, and HOPEFULLY guru. It will be a good camparison for everyone interested in those turbos! Can't wait for some results man.

Nope. Thanks and I knew ppl were going to say wrong forum :P

Thank you for the support! I should have pics of the built trans and some more of the car today. I am heading out to the shop to drop off everything :D Ohh... and I am 100% going to run stage 3 s4's, or for the ppl who think it is "pointless" :D. I would also like to run some other shit as well, I wouldn't mind getting mopped by Guru!

EDIT: down the road I am rebuilding the motor to a 2.8 or a 3.0 head with rods ect. My goal is 600-650awhp on the auto trans when I am done. For right now 500-550awhp, which should be EASY on like 18 lbs.

Its a generalization because there are some people on here that dont know what a project is, I've seen the b5 a4 project forum get cluttered with bs threads that have nothing to do with projects

wow. youre ahead of the pack.
run 28R's on stock rods and buy another short-block just in case instead of spending ~750-900 on some decent rods while the motor is out.. and im glad you figure 24 psi is the breaking point on stock rods with 60mm turbos. good luck

and i bet you think the pressure release chatter in that video sounds good too huh?

so is it a consensus that running stock rods with 28R's@20+ psi is safe now? lol

Woudn't it then be easier to remove or move the miss posted threads... then not allow people to post their builds... It looks like right now you guys only let people with GT, Single turbo, or something unique motor wise... but how about a cosmetically driven project where the person is just doing minor changes that are only visual.. but still wants it all organized in one thread.

    Re: Sams auto GT(2560) project

relax guys...I'm pretty sure Mike@VAST knows WAY more about tuning these cars than anyone on AZ and he will do his best to keep the rods from poking through the block. While the 28s aren't the ideal setup for a 2.7 by any means, he has made it quite clear he is going to do a full motor build including heads in the future. Should he just buy the 2554s for now and pick up the 28s when he builds the motor? NO! he is avoiding the need for new turbos in the future by getting bigger turbos now. Even on lower boost these things will be far better then his k03 setup.

...Everyone blew their loads when the ATP shit came out...so stop knocking the only guy willing to give them a shot. Now we can see how they will react on a stock block as well as a built motor when he goes that route in the future.

if i were paying someone to do work on my car id be in it for the long run.. a shortblock costs money that could be spent on rods. oh well, ima shutup now

    Re: Sams auto GT(2560) project

^ I would do an entire motor build and a full GT kit as well. I'm not going to complain though because Sam is trying something new and giving us the results we could all expect on a stock block setup. This will give him an idea of how far he has to go with the motor build as well. If it's having trouble spooling then he may need to go 3.0 with some head work for a higher redline and faster spool, if it's spooling fine (like the Tials) then a set of rods and valve springs should do(like JohnnyBravo's old car).

    Re: Sams auto GT(2560) project

Thank you widebody, I am trying to avoid buying another set of turbos even if I am running these on the stock block. I just don't have all of the cash to build the motor right now. Also my tech is a GREAT guy and pulled the turbos/trans without removing the whole motor. This takes WAY less time than pulling the whole motor. So I got a great quote for labor on my trans/turbo instal. He also told me if we end up rebuilding the head/bottom end he has no problem giving me a deal. :D I am also selling my company soon with my dad which I run.. i will have a good bit of money for sure to build my extra block. Sadly I just ran out of funds and rather have that extra money in my pocket for right now :). I know I will eat 1k later down the road in labor but it will be worth a fully built motor vs just rods. I am planning on going with a 3.0L fully built motor something like guru's in the future for sure. You guys have to remember this is a auto trans and can only hold so much power its self. Why i think the gt2560's were the right pick for my turbo application. They should also be the best turbos to spool/run on a stock block vs the gt2554. It just allows you to flow more boost which GURU ran out of on gt2554s. I have thought every angle through 100%.

    SIDE NOTES:
ARD inlet design changed (within the last day or two?) ... We will need to custom flare the inlets to fit how we want. If you look at the site they provide a flare to go outside the inlet on the turbo. Also the inlets are about the size as the rs4 ko4 inlets if you guys were wondering. I found they are just lighter and thicker ways.

APT eliminator kit: YOU DO NOT!! get the 6 bolts needed to mount the exhaust manifold to the turbos. You will need these bolts. You can not use normal bolts. You will need the audi turbo bolts.

    EDIT***

    Mike at Vast ftw :)

I will try and keep little side notes of things I need to mod to make them fit. Audis :P

Here is the car on 18lbs 93octane + meth. The car wasn't even tuned for meth yet. When I got it tuned for meth.. I ended up blowing the ko4s a week or two after that before I could film it :(

I am going to give my tech my camera so he can snap a few pictures throughout the instal as well. :D The car will be running on Monday since we didn't know we needed bolts when they say they supply everything. Let alone that I even called the tech support line.

    Re: Sams auto GT(2560) project

Thurs: We found out that we didn't have 6 of the bolts (from audi of course) for the exhaust manifold to mount onto the turbo. There was no hose provided from ATP or ard for the turbine to the inlet. We had to call Vast and get everything ASAP(nextday air ftw.)

    Friday: Parts are in.

Soo the instal started today.. there were a few bumps along the way. For one, we had to re-route all of the coolant/oil lines for the turbos on each side. This only took an extra 30 mins to an hour to make sure everything was cleaned up (wiring wise). Once we did that we got a call from Vast!! We were told we can remove the EGT sensors as well as the secondary air pump system. We welded the EGTs to the exhaust manifold to fill the hole where they use to be . With removing what we have we need to weld up some aluminum to fill gaps where the secondary air pump system use to be (to warm up the cats.. I don't own any cats? ). This has given us a BUNCH more room to work in the back of the engine bay. Aswell get rid of all that worthless shit. It made it nice aswell because we had to mess with all of the coolants lines right in the back of the engine( remember the engine is still in it ). Other than the coolant and oil lines, we found out that we need the stock hose or longer samco hose that connect to each turbo. Although there were a few bumps for about an hour.. once we got through that we are ready to mount the turbos up Monday morning. The car should be up monday(85% chance) afternoon or tuesday at the lastest. I will hopefully have a video camera :). Pictures of the full instal will be provided by my tech for me Monday. I left my camera at the shop so I am unable to show you pics on what I am talking about. I am sorry and hopefully will have videos of 9psi and pics ASAP.

I will have my tech type up what he had to do, if he doesn't mind. It wasnt TO much of a bitch just held us up for a little. No problem though. I will touch base with my tech on Monday. I know we did have to make the coolants lines longer and are using some of the stock parts with the aftermarket ones to get it to fit.

The samco hose on the passenger side is about 2-3 inches short*. It needs to be 4-5inches long adleast to reach. We are going back to the stock hose we have to custom make haha

As per usual ATP style, these turbos are far from "Bolt On"....
