    Re: tip chip???

I had the GIAC tip chip on my B5 A4. I say pass on it. I didn't notice a difference at all. It's supposed to make the shifts quicker, like from 1 sec delay to 1/10 sec I think ?

    http://www.awe-tuning.com/pages/shar...L=GIACTipChips

    GIAC Tiptronic Chip

Reduces shift delay from 1 sec to 0.2 sec
    Works with all engine chips
    Superbike Shifting

The GIAC trans chip addresses the "lazy" shifting as delivered from the factory, without losing any smoothness. Users of this chip have described the results as similar to "superbike" shifting! The GIAC trans chip solves gear "hunting" under full throttle caused by the massive torque of a well designed engine chip.

x2 once again. I read that on AWEs site as well "superbike shifting" and when I saw it in this forum I lol'ed. Superbike shifting my ass is right! That made my morning :D A HUGE waste of money and it is cheaper with VAST. Let me know if you have any questions. Vast is making me a custom TCU chip for my fully built trans/stall converter. Trust me once again. They are the ones you want to work with :D

I have heard from others... That from the GIAC tcu chip to the VAST chip it felt like the car was CHIPPED!.... as it should be. With GIAC I have heard so many stories that the chip just does nothing. Point blank people feel like they have paid 500 bucs for just shipping there TCU and getting it back. Hah

or you can go the cheap/free route and change the transmission coding to the "sport" code via vagcom with "00032"

car seems to have slightly quicker shifts and definitely makes smoother, more predictable shifts in D. many people that have done this are happy with it(including myself)

This is what you need to hold first gear to avoid the auto shift out of first? That is really helpful -_-

AKA. this would make me able to go from a first gear roll :X

    Re: tip chip???

you need VagCOM....The ebay cable/free version work. Go into the transmission part of VAG. CHange the code from whatever it is to 00032 and then you are able to hold 1st gear all the way to redline.

When I did mine I don't remember it shifting faster. I do remember thinking that it was shifting "smarter" instead of being delayed when I would floor it.

    Re: tip chip???

Ehhh, I am going to stick to custom TCU map and my built tranny :D.

SIDE NOTE: I have also talked to my tuner about doing the sport code for the tranny. It does different things to different cars. He said he put it into an s4 and nothing happened...but when he did it to his a6 it worked like magic to redline.

thank you all for all the great info....
I do have the free version of vag-com...I really have not missed with it..but i'll try the tranny upgrade situation.
I don't know if i'll do the whole superbike shifting thing but awe-tuning does have a great product which is there Drive Train Stabilizer. Now that is something worth looking into. As we all know our cars suffer from drivetrain movement especially under heavy breaking and downshifting..take a look let me know what you guy s think??

    Re: tip chip???

as mentioned above, don't wastes your time with Giac tip chip.
The Vast tip chip stg 3 works real well to speed shifting and help more of your exising power/TQ get to the ground. Worth the $$.
032 code will allow you to hold 1st and shift smarter but not faster. You'll hold gear better and if it is kinda like a sportmode. As a matter of fact, if you have a regular D mode and S mode then after 032 D=S
A6's have different codes from the factory, though most have 00002, others like mine have 01002. Whatever yours is, all you need to do is change the second to last digit from 0 to 3.
    Good luck Brice

As a past C5'er and still C5'er at heart. I can say the tip chip was the best thing I could do for the car. I have a little video of it

    http://videos.streetfire.net/video/v...ile_152645.htm

A buddy of mine was about to start a riot when we took out his GIAC tip chip ECU and swapped my VAST TCU in. I thought we were going to have to fight for me to get my TCU back. with both TCU's on the spot you could tell the difference

    VAST FTW.

I don't know how much of this has changed but. You may need to wait depending on your EXACT TCU. My TCU was a pain for them to crack. Its odd they got to a point where the stage 1 was nice but when you go to a stage 2 or stage 2+ they charge you the same but I guess its like 50X more work they have to do. They did my buddy's allroad (well its his wifes car) and it took 2 or 3 chips for it to work. But now he wont even drive his normal car he now wants to drive the allroad and makes his wife drive his mustang lol
If you don't have haters, then you're not kicking enough ass.

And lastly for the grammar police that are bound to step in
I came here from Germany in the 6th grade. I could not read or write a lick of English. I am working to get better. Thanks and sorry. I always try to edit my posts for the best grammar and easiest reading.
