Depending on which harness you use, its not too difficult. I used the ECS piece and although it took most of the day the job itself was quite easy, just time consuming. The ECS harness is not a direct fit so I had to splice into 4 wires.
There is a coil pack harness available for the MKIV GTI, Jetta and TT but unfortunately not for the B5 1.8T. You may be able to use the MKIV harness and cut and splice to repair what you need. I do have this harness in stock. The part number is 1J0971658L and the price is $55.72.
so this is what the stealership tells me, guess im gonna have to do some project

A bunch of the B6 1.8t owners have posted about doing the 034 replacement harness on their cars. Nice part is that after install that if you had to replace the harness again it was just plug and play.
Poorman - I think I just saw you pulling out of a parking spot at Albertsons here in Wildomar yesterday.
This is where I got most of my reference from while I'm planning my coil pack change. Hopefully everyone will find this helpful when doing either a replacement or ICM delete.
