Glad to hear no one got hurt.
I also had a house fire in 07...
Mine was a Total loss, rebuild/restoration depends on what kind of insurance you have. We had the best policy available in NY with ALLState, everything was covered from contents(tv,couchs, furniture, apliances, etc) to food for the first 6 weeks after the fire.. And since I dohave a large family, our package from allstate also paid for our temp rented house while our original home was being rebuilt.
And we recieved the "contents" money about 6 months after the fire, the value of thes items will depends soley on your Adjuster, hire a private one!!!! always good to have a private adjuster give a second opinion to the adjuster that the insurance company sends out!!
But to answer your question, after all the building departments approvals, and inspections, and re inpections and getting our CO (certificate of occupancy).. etc, total time it took for our house to be ready for us to move in was about 16 months.
I wish you the best, if you have any more questions about this topic, you can PM me if you like.

OK I read the whole thread and still have not seen any progress on B6 Level. So far less than a handful of B5 people have done/are doing the swap as well as a Utah guy in older Audis, correct? (In this thread at least)
- Is anybody currently doing the swap in a B6?
- Does anyone have any info on how mounts would have to be made? (can any existing mounts to be used/modified) for 24v VR6 in a B6?
- What has been proven to be the most effective management way so far? I only saw Stand alone in Justins car as of now?
Lots of people saying you can make the harness match up with some work? Would this also be as do-able on a B6?
- I saw the issue of the Cam sensors being brought up, would there be any difference between using a 1.8T (B6) platform opposed to a 3.0?
- nico I'd rather push my Audi than drive a Subaru

Everybody's been talking about it, but nobody got it done like i did. A month start to finish, no weekend work, and still working my job (although it was a little slow at the time)..

Just to update this,
I will have a full harness & ECU done by MAY2010.
Thats when the swap will be completed and the S4 ECU & harness tune will be available.
Testing will start in MARCH2010

01A will support roughly roughly 450whp without breaking into bits.SHould be enough for a VR6.

Not really. I went through 3 01a's in 3 weeks(literally) on 20psi on the 1.8. One of them was at about 80mph it tore up 4th gear. The car never put down over 400, not even 375 at that boost level.
I would HIGHLY suggest swapping to an 01e before doing this swap. It's 100% worth it if you use the 01a shifter with it.

Of course an 01E goes without saying but I made over 440whp on my 01A before I decided to give the 01E a shot.
What were you doing with yours? Was it the original A4 box?

if anyone in New England is serious about getting this swap done and doesn't have the skills... my mechanic has put a VRT into all sorts of places it doesn't belong... f*cker could make you a VRT riding mower if you paid him enough.

Been treating us pretty good. Got a little bit of snow here. Not quite as much as Western Colorado did. B6 would still be good info, but I pulled the trigger a B5 S4 this past Saturday.
I would guess later. It's probably a revision or "improvement" vw did, and this is a 99 vr6... so that would make some sense.
EDIT. It bolted straight to the GEARBOX without an issue, but it woudlnt' mate to the engine without grinding the webbing on the timing cover. Then once I bolted the adapter on all was good, then went to mate up the trans and it was sort of "teetering" on the timing cover, not allowing a flush mount. Really probably about 1/4cm needed to be cut out to make it clear, i cut out about 1/2cm just to be sure. It's not a big deal, as there's no mounting bolts there. Took an extra half hour or so to get the whole thing sorted out.
Hey, I am contributing some info I learned today. I pulled an 0bd2 out of a Jan 2000 build date Jetta today(well actually, it as already pulled, I just had to put it in the wheel cart.. gotta love 12v motors. 85$ out the door)
It had this timing cover on it(the left cleaned up one.)
I didnt have time to put it on with the adapter plate and bolt it up to an 01e or an 016, but it appears to be the solution to not having to grind the webing off the older 12v covers, and then having to grind a section off the tranny. It is pretty neat as the new cover seems to complete the o1e flange that was missing on the adapter plate. My guess is that audi/vw did it to work with the vr5 in Europe with one casting.
Anyway, somebody with more vr6 knowledge can probably chime in and tell me what years exactly will have that part.
Swap is getting close.
And for the 12v haters, this guy is making 540whp with a 42r on E85 using a stock engine... completely. Stock CR, stock longblock, stock hardware, and a bigass turbo(tuned with a nice standalone) Dollar for Dollar, the 12v is hard to beat.
Getting closer. All the oil lines/waterlines are run, engine is in for good, exhaust is at 100% with the tial valve, Fuel rail is done and lines almost done. and still loving all the room the vr6 provides. It is nice to be able to get to everything with such ease. There is no hard to get at spot on the entire engine.
THe IIc got sent back to get the new firmware from 034MS and should be back in time for startup then. Turbo has changed for the last time. 75lb injectors with a 35r on e85 should make some good power.
Ground up Custom radiator is almost done, IC is ordered, heat wrap lines, and finish up some wiring and vroom vroom. We will probably have to do -8an lines all the way back before turning up the wick for the goal of 500whp/500tq, but at that point we will have to throw in an 01e for longevity reasons.
Forget GT set ups...this is a chalk and cheese comparison. How many labour hours you need to even TOUCH a turbocharger on an S4?
You know how many hours on a VR6? ..... 15 MINUTES.
Yes, here lies the beauty. One could easily daily drive a vr6 car with a mild 35r tune, get to the track and throw a 42r on for kicks and giggles. This is more or less what 034ms is doing at these mag showdowns. They use the 35r with a billet wheel for the road course and then swap over to the 42r for the drag and dyno events. When changing a turbo is like putting in new injectors, or checking spark plug color, it is easy to do.
I could literally have a turbo swapped in under 15 minutes. I joke with a coworker that it would be fun to have a hitch on the car and pull up to a track event with consumeables such as tires, a drum of e85, and a spare longblock inspected and ready to throw in. If one blows in a long weekend event, you are 2 hours tops of having a new motor in with fluid and back on track.
Whats the going rate for a 2.7tt engine complete on the market right now?? :) :) :)
yeah i saw an intake manifold you sent to a friend in buffalo, looks good. And no worry, I made 3 intake manifolds, but they were all revision development. Only 1 final product.
