Justin, do you have any vids of your dash while the car is running? I just want to get a sense of how functional the dash is.
I'm a few weeks away from starting mine up, and I jsut wanted to see if you did any custom splicing, de-pinning to the original harness to get the Dash to run without Christmas lights.
Thanks
I can take some. Epc check engine and abs lights on. Tach, speedo, water temp, etc all work. We'll get rid of as many warning lights as possible soon

Everyone chasing 500-600WHP, how is your transmission suriving all of this?? I refused doing a VR6 simply because I have no faith in the tranny for the VR6`s potential.

Looking good so far.
7500 so far, not much more needed for the vr6, the stock tach is too slow to keep up with the motor. I think in first gear if it reads 6800, im at 7500 according to my standalone.

The cars a beast, great work
From what iv heard its pretty common for OEM axles to break like this, the JHM/PureMS axles are solid so that wont happen but i guess it just exposes the next weakest point.

They're different axles with different geometry, and they could well be made of different metals. Just because they break at different places doesn't necessarily mean that they've cured any weak points, because for all we know the joint where the solid ones broke could simply be weaker than OEM. I'm not claiming that's the case or anything, just saying that that logic doesn't necessarily work with these.

Looks like it's time for JHM or 034 to fab or contract some more of their signature custom B5 S4 parts and get us some killer axles that can handle all of these high power builds

I'd hit my marty at raxles.com he can make the axles for you and the warranty is life time, he's confident they wont break if you get the performance ones. I believe i paid 349 each for mine and it was worth it...

I think 034 has custom axles on their time attack car.

Ive heard mixed reviews with raxles.. I guess a complete set would be around $1400 give or take?

Your axles were not like the JHM's, yours were very skinny and had machine marks, not smooth like factory/JHM. Yours looked exactly like the Empi's that break easily

lol. where is this coming from? the stock trans is VERY strong. people only blow syncros on misshifts or years of not knowing how to drive standard. All the big players in the s4 game have been using stock trans for a long time(some change gear ratios). All the GT guys have been running 01Es with no problem, Chris green does, 034, eurocode, rstyles, etc. I really wouldn't worry about it.

Im going to contact jhm to see who makes their axles. I spoke to Arek (OZZ) with the 9 sec rs4, he said he uses stock axles, or sometimes from the audi 80/100's.. Not sure if you have to modify those to make them work though. Probably hard to find oem ones still also.

man, that swap is sick. definitely interesting. you do some amazing work there!!! subscribed
question on your ViPec V88 engine management.
How much did it run? also are you able to share the tune by putting it on a file and uploading it to another ViPec V88 engine management system? Or is it just one by one tune on this system. If you can share it, it would be a great starter map if you were to be able to put this together in your garage, then drive it to the tuner instead of getting it towed.
Couple of random questions
What FMIC are you running?
How much more are you planning on pushing this on the HP side?
Do you think the stock fuel system, (with a bigger fuel pump and injectors with modified fuel lines to mate up to the new fuel rail) be able to handle 600HP ish ?
Final question.
Are you running for president? Anyone who can tackle the complications and hiccups involved with this build can easily run a country.
again a big

How much did it run? Roughly $2800-3000 wired into the caralso are you able to share the tune by putting it on a file and uploading it to another ViPec V88 engine management system? If my tuner is doing it and you buy the vipec from him, he will supply a startup map

I know this thread talks about standalone but is that really the only option? My friend has a supercharged r32 motor in her A3 and she doesn't run standalone. The entire harness was revamped, but what is stopping s4 guys from wiring up a VR to use stock engine management?

For one, the 24v vr6 coil packs wont fit under the s4 hood... There would be other issues, i was discussing this with someone when people were mentioning they were going to try it.

lol. I'm an idiot. I thought for some reason the r32 was a 32 valve. that isn't even possible on 6 cylinders.
I just know the r motor fits fine in the b5 chasis.

R32 - 3.2 liter vr6 It's identical to the 28 24v vr6 besides bore and the head.. Those coil packs would hit the hood as well.

not an s4 but the 2 door 8L a3 has a platform very similar to the US TT:
I can't imagine this bay is bigger than the s4 bay. I'll see what they did for mounts though.

The motor is sitting the opposite way in that car.. There is no way to get it to sit that low in the s4, the oil pan hits the subframe and you would have to lower the transmission angle too much.
