Hello and welcome to the May 2009 installment of our monthly Audizine Newsletter. It's been a wild and hectic month, with no end in sight, so let's just get right into it.
As we do with each and every newsletter, you will find a rundown of the latest Industry News and Motorsport News posted up since our last newsletter, as well as details on this month's Featured AZ'er. We end the newsletter with our thank you to the companies recently joining or returning to our amazing group of Official Audizine Advertisers.
As I hinted to in last month's newsletter, we've got Audizine Baseball Hats making their triumphant return. Also returning this month is the Audizine Photo Contest. This time around we're not only tying the contest into our printing of a new Audizine Postcard Flyer, but next year's 2010 Audizine Calendar, and perhaps even a first-ever Audizine Poster! Plus we're going to be giving out even more prizes from our Official Advertisers! Do you have the photo skillz to fit the billz?
Please use the Table of Contents above to jump to a specific section of interest, or read on below for all the latest news and information from around The Zine.
User Name:S4DTM Real Name: Danny Keller Location: Northern California, USA Year of Vehicle: 2007 Model of Vehicle: S4 sedan Engine of Vehicle: 4.2 liter V8 Color of Vehicle: Dolphin Gray
It's always nice when things go perfectly hand in hand, when the stars align and magic happens. You know, like chocolate and peanut butter. Like pizza and beer. Like an Audi and a racetrack. Match the later up with an enthusiast and an S4, an S4 that's been modified with plenty of both go and show, and you have yourself one hell of a combination. That in a nutshell describes this month's Featured AZ'er and his car, but there's a lot more to Danny's story than that. Those in the B6/B7 S4/RS4 Forum would know him better as 'S4DTM', but for those of you meeting Danny and his S4 for the first time, sit right back and we'll tell you a tale. More
Audizine baseball hats are finally coming back! The old school AZ'ers will remember that we did these many years ago and they've been a highly requested item ever since.
Last time around we used a FlexFit style but I personally wasn't a big fan of the fitment. Plus it was a lot of trouble stocking multiple colors as well as two different sizes. Sorry FlexFit fans. I recently picked up 4 different hat styles to test out and hopefully narrow down a winner.
Here's what I do know for sure...
They'll be an unstructured low profile cap
They will have either an adjustable buckle or velcro closure
They'll have a large full-color Audizine "//A" centered on the front with "Audizine.com" small across the back/side
We'll stock them in both Basic Black and Stone Gray
For the special pre-sale we'll also offer Brilliant Red and Royal Blue
They will retail at around $15 each, with discounts given for quantity orders
Below is a mock-up of how the main front design will look, and I hope to have final samples very soon at which point we'll start up the ordering process. Be sure to follow the main Audizine Hat Discussion Thread for further details and to post your thoughts.
Since the weather is becoming increasingly nicer in most of the world, we felt it was the perfect time to get the ball rolling on this year's Official Audizine Photo Contest. This time we'll also be tying the contest into the 2010 Audizine Calendar, which is a perfect way to get those cameras snapping and your hard drives filling up with potentially award winning shots!
We will be unveiling details on sponsors and prizes later on, but for now here are some of the basic rules. Most of these will be familiar to those of you that participated in last year's AZ Photo Contest.
THE RULES...
- Any and all vehicles must be Audis
- Needs to be a recent photo, taken within the past 12 months
- Must be in color
- Limited-to-no use of HDR please
- File size (for print) of 300dpi 8"x10" or larger
- You must be a member of Audizine
- Maximum of three entries/submissions per member
HOW TO ENTER...
- Send email to entries@audizine.com
- Attach low-res version(s) or upload pic(s) to your AZ Gallery and send link(s)
- Include "2009 Photo Contest" in the subject line, and your Audizine username somewhere within the email
The contest is on now and runs until Monday, June 15th. No submissions will be accepted after midnight that night.
So to go along with the above-mentioned 2009 Audizine Photo Contest, we were thinking of tying in a limited run of posters using the First Place winning shot. This would be the first time we've ever done a poster, so I wanted to see what the AZ Community thought. You know we always love getting your guy's feedback.
Below are the possible sizes and estimated pricing. We will also be looking into having an Official Audizine Advertiser sponsor the poster in order for us to keep costs down. This would mean that more of the posters would make it into the hands (and onto the walls) of you enthusiasts.
These would be a high quality print, full color on 13 pt. recycled matte cover stock. If you've seen our 2009 Audizine Calendar, you know we how we roll. A big part of the cost though, unfortunately, is shipping/postage. We of course want to insure that they'd make it to you guys safe and wrinkle free.

OPTION 2: Large > VOTE

For the month of May we have a familiar face returning back with us at Audizine for another year. This month we'd like to take the time to acknowledge and thank our good friends at MJM Autohaus, as well as let all of our other Official Advertisers know that their support of this community is greatly appreciated. We also ask that you please show your own personal thanks to our Official Audizine Advertisers when you make your next parts or service transaction. You will find MJM and all of our Official Audizine Advertisers on our complete list within the Audizine Advertiser's Corner.
Before we end this month's newsletter I just wanted to post up a quick reminder about two of the features mentioned last month.
First off, our all-new Audizine Wiki is coming along great but there's still tons more info to be added. Keep that knowledge flowing guys and gals, and don't be afraid to add your 2 cents! And lastly, be sure to follow Audizine on Twitter. It's really become a very cool resource tool for us, and we've been receiving really awesome feedback from the few hundred folks that are following us so far. With Twitter, you can get immediate updates and news links from Audizine. It's stuff from around the site, and yeah, sometimes even what I'm up to. Now who wouldn't want that!? But don't worry, I keep it Audi related...
Thank you for reading, and we'll see you here again next month.
