Nice... did you end up getting a higher stall?

I dont have a higher stall yet. Still has the 3200 high stall converter on it. I am still talking with a few places trying to find out who can make what I am looking for.

Why not just get the setup you have working right? You could probably hit 10s with it the way it sits

For what you'd be spending on the GTX why not go with one of the new BW EFR turbos? You'd most likely be able to drop the stall some on account of the turbine being way lighter than it's Garrett equivalent. Never mind the fact that the BW will probably make more real world power on account of it being designed to work specifically with it's turbine housing instead of the Garrett just trying to cram 75 lb/min through a turbine housing that was meant for a 62/min compressor.

Why not question a person that continues to spend tons of $$$$$ on a Tiptronic? This has been a build of fail for the last ~5 years.

Hey, I'm always interested to see someone bucking the trend. Besides, any high power build like this is always going to have problems. Imagine if one guy was to sort out all the teething problems that came along with the BAT manual builds. It's not like they run like a swiss watch.

I hear ya. I do admire the OP's persistence. But, IMO it could be used in a more fruitful manner. At this point i would give up on the TIP altogether and do some sort of custom DSG setup. I have been watching these attempts to make quick TIP by the OP for a long time. There may be a reason no one in the B5 community (A4/S4) has gotten one to work thus far.

    Just my 2 cents.

^I think maybe because the money involved can't really be justified, if doing a manual swap can be done for so much more less. But if you got it, then why not help the community out once things get worked out (exactly what he is doing). This way, people would know what would be involved (proper route), which companies to go with, and how much everything will cost at the end. Not all are capable of driving manual transmission vehicles (ie people with knee issues), and this is somemthing that could very much benefit someone else. I mean, for a dd he basically got it down. But for track orientation added to the mix, that seems to be the current thing he is trying to kink out.

The reason people like ourselves know what routes to take, is simply because people have done trial and errors for us to reap the benefits. Who knows how many people blew up thier engines, helping out the Audi/VW community. I find this build and thread def a posotive thing and not a negative.

Not sure what you mean by working right? But below are my reason for what I am thinking

    1. Garrett GTX3582R Billet Wheel Turbo (because it needs a retune anyway)
    2. VR6 throttle body (because it needs a new TPS anyway)
    3. Injector Dynamics ID2000 - 2000cc/min fuel injectors (so I dont find out I want more fuel and have to retune a third time)
    4. New camshafts? (because it needs a retune anyway)
    5. Torque Converter Techniques 5000+ High stall torque converter
    6. Custom Eurodyne Maestro 7 E85 tune (because it needs a retune anyway and e85>91oct)

so my thought was to add/upgrade a few things now instead of adding them and having to retune a third time...

What do you think? Just retune as it sits and proabably retune a third time? Or add the parts now and hopefully have this be the last time?

I was thinking add parts now to save money on a third tune... But, as I am typing this I am realizing I may be happy with it once it is retunned how it sits and may not care about going bigger.... Hmm what to do?!

I guess it just depends on how much money you have to burn. The throttle body seems like a good idea if it needs replacing anyway. However I would spend the time and money getting the setup that you have dialed in first and then start making changes one at a time until you meet your track goals.

Problem with changing as much as you're proposing and not having the original setup dialed in is that you have no means of establishing a baseline. As a purely hypothetical example, let's say your current throttle body is restricting your max flow by 20%. Well, if you change that along with 4 other things then yeah you'll get another 20-25% (assuming the other three things add 5% above and beyond the 20% that the TB adds). However bang for the buck you could have got most of that with the throttle body alone. But you'll never know if you change 4 things and hope that throwing more parts at it solves the problem eventually. Just think of this like your car being broken and having to fix it, would you troubleshoot problems this way?

So anyway it's your call, however I think Clint brings up a good point. Also, if you're comparing your times to people at 1000ft or less of elevation, you're going to be coming up short, so they're not a good baseline to use as far as justifying more changes to get to where you think you should be.

    Track opens April 9th!

No real updates yet.... Been spending most of my time and money on snowboarding trips all winter. However, now that the track is opening back up and I just received another promotion at work things will probably start back up again. In fact I just put in a call to try and finalize a time to retune on E85 with a new VR6 Throttle body (it needs a retune since I put the stock cams back in anyway) :)

Why are you planning on going to an even larger turbo that will spool up slightly later then the GT35r? If you haven't maxed out the normal GT35r then spending all that money on a GTX35 is a waste of money. Might as well just upgrade the 35r to a HTA3582 or HTA3586 or switch over to the EFR setup, even the 8374 will spool up quicker then the GT35r and make even more power. You could run the EFR T3 right on your Full-Race manifold if you run open turbo or a small fiter on the front, it will be a tight fit. You would also have to disconnect your external WG or strap the internal wg closed on the EFR.

If you want to go with a good set of cams you should go Schrick 252/260 set or their newest 260/260 cam set. Then there is also the IE cams that will be coming out at some point.

    The Colorado Rally to Wuste2011!!

I will be doing a DagBall styled rally from Denver to Las Vegas for Wuste2011...

    Here is the break down.

    1) We will be leaving Thursday June 2nd bright and early in the morning.
    - meet at the Einstein Bros Bagels at 6:00am (we have secured a 15% discount on your tab) 14401 West Colfax Avenue, Lakewood, CO 80401- Get on the road no later than 7:00am
    - I-70 W and I-15 S - 753 mi 11 hours 50 mins
    - we will take about a 30 min "pit stop" every 250 miles give or take.

    2) Arrive at Las Vegas.
    - check in and unload the cars.
    - some will wash cars, some will start drinking!!

    wish me luck!

Best of luck and good to see you've got your beast up and running again. I've been meaning to ask, how does your transmission cope with the 8500 RPM redline? Will it shift properly or does it freak out if you shift that high?

If you are talking studs that hold the turbo onto the manifold, take those out and go to a ARP bolt. We got back today, had a safe trip but damn it was pretty windy.
I actually left the show around 8:30pm. It was just too long of a day seeing that I got to the show parking garage at 10:30am.

Sorry to bring this thread back from pasture, but I wanted to hear about whether or not any updates have been done.

Just FYI, I have a 517 T/C and V/B in my tip + GIAC Tip chip on my 2.0 GT3076 and I've been issue free for over 6 months(knocks on wood), except it kicked my tranny into limp mode once lol.

Did you upgrade the converter yet again?

I actully havnt touched it since I got back from vegas. I took a promotion and moved to breckenridge. Its sitting at my parents house in denver. I am actually looking at buying a Jeep Cherokee SRT8 now that I live in a ski resort town (snow). I am actually thinking about selling the a4 so I can super charge or turbo the jeep....
