Re: HELP!!!!Manual Boost Controller Install
Stock is about 7-10 PSI.
I'd suggest getting chipped before doing this.

And buying a boost gauge. You're just going to put the car in limp mode if you start messing around with it. These aren't Eclipses.

Re: HELP!!!!Manual Boost Controller Install
Stock boost on a B6 is 11-12psi. Dont push the boost to much because the ECU will just end up closing the throttle.

Yeah, what he said.
You're ECU will tell you to die in a fire if you start pushing 14-17 pounds without being chipped.
Not to mention, your going to need a boost gauge, but I am hoping you already had one...

Re: HELP!!!!Manual Boost Controller Install
on the N 75 valve there is three tubes, i dont remember which is which but if my memory serves me right the bottom one is the return and the long horizontal one is the boost line and the line to the short horizontal tube is just atmosphere. keep in mind you will need to leave the N75 pluged in even thought you are not using it. othewise you car will go into limp mod.

Not only that... but having a manual boost controller and no gauge is a death sentence.
Its pretty much a guessing game of whether the motor is going to pop or not. ahah

Re: HELP!!!!Manual Boost Controller Install
DONT READ ANYTHING I WROTE IF YOU DONT HAVE A BOOST GAUGE INSTALLED. the link i have posted shows how to install one.
I dont have a chip and run that MBC with no problems, so dont listen to those guys. If you do want to raise the boost just a little you should install a diode on the map sensor, that way the ecu wont throw you into limp mode. Read this:
http://audiforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57086
it has a lot of goof info. As far as the install goes, the brass fitting goes to the wastegate line, and the other line goes to the other fitting lol, sounds bad but its that simple. just take the lines off the n75 and replace them on the mbc, leaving the n75 plugged in.

Im sure it works, but it is not advised. You have a diode mod, which is different than running a MBC with nothing else.
I really do not even want to go into this as it is common sense. Then again what do I know? .

I advise it! Its cheap as hell and it offers the same of better results as a chip. as far as what you know: I dont know what you know, and you dont know what i know. thats why i know that you dont know about the diode mod!!! hahah.
AND BEFORE THE DIODE MOD i ran 12-13psi AND DIDNT HAVE ANY ISSUES!!!. within 500 miles the ecu had corrected itself and the a/f and timing pull was in check. SO JUST CURIOUS, since your comments hint towards knowing all, why are you against this??

Im sure you will not notice anything and will not have any problems. but this is also a backyard tuning that is not a proper "tune".
I said that the MBC is not a great idea one with out a flash, and two with out a boost gauge. It is just a welfare way of moding your car.

Want to know what happens when the MBC fails with that Diode in place? KABOOM thats what happens because the diode is removing the map sensor safety.
Are you going to replace his engine when it blows up because the mod you tell him to do fails?
What I dont understand is why people get so cheap when a chip is the biggest bang for the buck.

BUT when your in college and have less than $30 in your account a diode/mbc is way better than a $500 chip (yes i know about revos new pricing). Plus like i said, it has the same if not better results. will i run it forever, no, but i will continue to do so until i can afford it. if you would like to send me some $$$ for a flash, or a chipped ECU i will be more than happy to run it, but until then i will i will rock/advise others about the diode

Boost is only 1/3 of tuning. Let me know when your K03 is making 200whp and running low 14's beause thats what I ran with my chip tuned K03.
BTW I did the diode mod on my A4 8 years ago, but did it with a T28, GIAC tuning and EBC to get around the fact that I couldn't run more then 21psi.

Yes a few but not ones that give huge hp gains. But we are also talking about something I did over 8 years ago and the record still stands.

That is only going to help decrease boost spikes or let you decrease the boost level, it will NOT help you increase the boost level since all its doing is adding a 2nd path for the pressure to be sent to the wg actuator. Putting it in parallel does not work, you would need to put it in series to increase the boost.
