    WI Front License Plate Laws?

    Hey guys,

I have not run a front license plate since I started driving. I only got hassled for it once, and all the officer did was ask where it was.

Since I bought the Audi, I refuse to run a big ugly WI Plate out front, and opted for a eurotag. I have no been hassled for it, as I beleive the officers in my area have better things to do. (Milwaukee) Are vanity plates illegal?

My question is; if I get pulled over for not having a proper front plate (Will most likely be in a town where cops have absolutely nothing better to do and need revenue like Green Bay), what are my arguments against the officer for it? I will flip my ****ing lid if I get anything more than a warning for the incident. Motorcycles, large trucks, and even government owned vehicles are not required to have a front plate, why the **** should I?

I've spent the last hour or so on DOT & DMV sites but nothing points out the law specifically, or gives me a Code where I can read what the law ACTUALLY states.

Re: WI Front License Plate Laws?

I never use a front plate but keep it in the glovey with some zip ties for an on the spot fix, just in case.

I have been given several "fix it" tickets on this over the past 12yrs or so but I heard our new Pres. had this in the works of law changes as it costs us an extra few million each year to make two plates instead of one.
Do it right, or don't bother.
