pw211, thanks for the update on the different colored whites. I got a cool white and a natural white in my batch for the dome lights. I like the look of the natural white better but I didn't get the map light bulbs yet. Both bulbs in together seem to light up the car about the same but the cool white LEDs look brighter and definitely more blue. I did get cool white lights for the vanity mirror lights and they didn't seem to look as blue as the 6 LED bulb did.

This is the two different whites, exposure notched down a bit to show the difference in colors. That's actually pretty close to how it looks in person as well.

Here's the light output from them, again, exposure adjusted to come as close to how it really looks to the eye as I could (I'm no expert with a camera though). Also, as I mentioned, the map lights aren't done so it's not a perfect indication.

    Re: Interior Lighting Guide

The one on the left looks like the cool white, and the one on the right I believe is the natural white...there was a mix up in the shipping apparently. I've removed them already since it's a little obvious. No, map lights aren't replaced yet. Will do those in the next round...probably order the rest tomorrow. Do you know if there would be any problem with using the HP 5LED wedge bulb instead of the regular wide angle 5LED bulb?

    Re: Interior Lighting Guide

order the 4-LED bulb . its a lot cheaper wen ordering 10 bulbs, no need to go wide angle as the lens will disperse the light anyway

and y are u orderding individually lol . u wasting alot on shipping costs .

u could have ordered the entire set, in white, with the 4-led ones, for 57 shipped

I wasn't intending on replacing the map lights or the rear footwells, however it was too much contrast and I didn't realize the map lights came on with the domes. So I'm doing a second batch to finish this off to keep the flow. :)

    Re: Interior Lighting Guide

hey guys, i did this yesterday and had a few comments and questions.

overall, the lights are sweet and shipping was very prompt. i ordered them friday morning and got them tuesday. putting them in was no problem. i put in the red lights which look great. from the outside, they're not as bright as i thought they would be, but they look awesome when you're inside. that being said, they're not very practical, but who cares? life is short.

there were also a few things i was wondering. on the superbrightleds website, there is a 32- and 90-degree viewing angle option for the ba9's (map lights). when they say 90 degrees, does that mean the bulbs would be pointing down in a horizontal socket (like an L shape)? and would it make more sense to use the 1-led bulb (http://www.superbrightleds.com/store...es/ba9-w.jpg)? the way it is now, the bulbs are pointing straight when the target is down, so i feel like i'm not getting an optimal amount of light.

thanks to pw211 for this writeup. props.

    Re: Interior Lighting Guide

I have a 2006 A4 and purchased the following for the map lights from SuperBrightLEDS.com

    120VAC White LED BA9s bulb

The lights come on, but barely any light is put out. The lights I had in before worked fine so I know it is not the socket. Did I use the correct lights? IF so does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

After looking at all those bulbs trying to make sure they are the right ones, I'm tempted to go with these?

lets be clear that you will then be over paying out your ass...

arbaz: glad you like em, but I'm not entirely sure about the 90 degree thing.

Mbutler: When the car is not on, the lights won't come on very brightly. For whatever reason, it has to be on for the lights to work to their full brightness.

Sorry for the late replies guys, I never caught this thread when it was brought back.

    Re: Interior Lighting Guide

The Superbright lights just don't look that "superbright" and everyone's talking about how they light up well, but not enough for reading any maps. Also, it's $65 for all the bulbs you mentioned, and an additional $45 with the courtesy lights, which I don't think your setup included?

Not nay saying, I'm just sayin'. I do appreciate the work you put into this.

    hey guys,

I'm not sure which map lights to purchase. I'm at the superbrightled website, and there is an operating voltage option for the lights (
BA9s-x4-12V Bayonet Base bulb) what voltage should I be ordering?

    thanks

The white lights are plenty bright, the red ones aren't.

BTW I'm now selling mine if anyone is interested in a set of red lights

Based on what tankdeer just said, you want 12V. I'm no sure why they don't have natural light, it might be a lack of stock, but I'm sure you can google search and find a site with the same stuff.

What website were you looking at? Last I checked superbrightleds had both cool and warm white in most of their bulbs.

Personally I like the natural the best, but the cool isn't bad either. To me the warm is a little too warm, if that makes sense. It just seems too close to a normal bulb and therefore doesn't justify the upgrade IMO. While that is not my photo, that does look bluer than they actually are. The natural white is about the same color as the B8's LEDs, whereas the cool white is closer to some aftermarket HID bulbs, probably about 6000k or so

Guys I have been putting together kits for B5 and B6 cars and at the moment I am in the process of testing B7 cars and seeing if bulbs will throw any warning message.
I have a friend who just bought a 2006 A4 so I will be testing on that car.
B5 cars tested no error message and B6 cars tested no error message.
Lets cross fingers for B7 cars now because if the results come out positive I will have complete kits available for you , including licence plate bulbs.
