The Audizine Wiki: B5 A4 Platform
We are happy to announce the opening of the Audizine Wiki!
This thread is for discussion pertaining to the B5 A4 Page. You can share your comments/questions/suggestions here.
While there are no hard "rules," here are a few guidelines:
- Keep the Wiki factual. The forum is for discussion, debates and opinions.
- Stick to the formatting. The more conformity, the easier it is to navigate throughout the page.
- Keep prices out of the Wiki. Prices are always changing and will lead to confusion.
- Be confident in your edits. See the Help section if you are unsure.
- Have fun!
Please report any bugs or problems in the Wiki Bug Report & Feedback Thread located in the Feedback Forum.

I would really like to just jump in there and start adding in articles and information and whatnot but I'm more or less a noob, even with the hundred and some hours I've spent on this site the past couple weeks (not an exaggeration). Grrrr my newbie knowledge, better than nothin' though.

Every little bit helps. So long as you're posting correct info, it doesn't matter if you've been here a few months or a few years.

Re: The Audizine Wiki: B5 A4 Platform
I has a boner over the Audizine Wiki.
Is it worth Specifying the engine codes by year and US vs Euro models?
as in:
'97-99.5 = AEB
2000 = (I can't remember)
2001-2001.5 = ...?
And respective engine codes for:
'96-98 = 12V
98.5+ = 30V
What B5 A4 came with a 6 speed manual too? This is news to me, I was under the impression they were all 01A 5 speed manuals or the Auto/Tip's
Would it hurt to add any info on the virtual axis suspension up front, brake size/calipers/design/etc and links to info on the exterior changes. As in taillights, fenders, mirrors, etc?
EDIT:
Other worthwhile info/links.

I have more, I just need to find them.

Re: The Audizine Wiki: B5 A4 Platform
The Wiki I am assuming will be basically an ecyclopedia for an easy navigation when questions arise, as the search function can be a b*tch sometimes to pull threads on info you would need/want.

As for the last part of your question, people can format and make many sub-categories under the "Performance Modification" section. One catergory within that section is "engine tuning". I would assume one could also make one for "Brakes", "Suspension", etc with subcategories and descriptions within those. On the same premise, I would assume a person could also make a category for cosmetic mods with sub-categories and descriptions within those. The format helps out a lot, but people would simply need to keep it very clean.
Edit: Already did it. Now people just need to add info.

Rather than just the section, it would be nice to list and link the individual DIY threads.

I can agree with that. I think a link per individual section would be nice. Just gotta get it all sorted cleanly.

Wow, someone needs spell check haha. I'm going through now fixing it. I also added a little info to the brake section including adding the A8+info and some Porsche info. I don't really feel like we should be putting company links to kits and such. I think just giving basic info will help such as explaining what is used or done. I think once you start putting kits, then you are basically giving said company free advertisement.

I started to add and try to clean the format a little. I work the night shift at my job, and will try and clean it up when I get off. I am trying to make the brakes format similar to the cosmetic format (which I rearranged a tad to make for a cleaner look). I cleaned it up, but in the process need to find a way to incorporate "OEM" for the first portion without it messing up the entire format. Should be easy.
Edit: NVMD, cleaned up

I think it's about time we start linking threads and DIY's pertaining to each section that show more detail and answer some other questions others may have. I started with the exhaust thread, however I don't like the format it's sitting in. Seerlah you should change it

Re: The Audizine Wiki: B5 A4 Platform
^Will do. It is like a test and trial with each setting because because the for some odd reason it never ends up the way I want it . I'll try and make it look like the cosmetic modification section. And I was thinking of just adding another section on the bottom to links of DIY pages (the main ones). One to AudiDIY, Audigeeks, AZ DIY, and so forth.
Edit: Actually, I will try and make all them look like or close enough to the cosmetic section. That seems to be the cleanest look so far. And if I can figure out a better format, I'll stick with that.

Will there be any issues hotlinking someone elses stuff? It sure would be nice to be able to have all those links in one spot for sure. It would make my life a lot easier in time of need LOL.

If it's ok, could I make the format of the Common Issues to match the rest of the sections? Or does someone want to create something from the linked bold parts?

Formatted the links, so they are names now instead of just long links.

I couldn't agree more. Being broad about certain areas of the vehicle also gives new owners to the B5 A4 a chance to explore what is offered on the market for thier vehicle without people swaying decisions on which product to go with. This also allows newcomers to AZ an opportunity to become comfortable with the search function, as they should be able to find reviews and answers to most of the questions they would have pertaining to certain companies. And they can then make thier own decision from there.
If it isn't too much to ask, whom ever did the suspension part of the Wiki, could you possibly edit it to have no tuner companies involved? And pardon if this request comes off as insulting, that was never the intent. Thanks!
Also, I am too lazy to attempt editing it but the consolidation of the DIYs into categories is a great idea. Problem is, AudiDIY basically has it down to a T. So, if another feels that they should do the same I say "go for it". It would be a great addition to Audizine.

Re: The Audizine Wiki: B5 A4 Platform
I think having the names of shops and tuners is fine, so long as they relate directly to the medications listed for these cars. Having links and especially pricing, on the other hand, should be left off. There are plenty of other areas on Audizine that list such info, namely the forums.

I was actually trying to remember if it was you or Siena that did the rear RS4 brakes, I wasn't sure what is needed to make them work hence I didn't add the information.
